writing adele: The Calm Before the Storm
http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/conversation-with-nan.html
My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. The Calm Before the Storm. The quiet house sits still in the dark. For the rustling of slippers to come down the hall. For the first light to shine on a glimmer of open eyes. To open up to a new day. The floorboards creek under my feet as my tiptoes reach the sleepy corners of the walls. Myself and the house. All are asleep but me. The dog squints one eye and sighs, not bothering to join me yet. The morning shower steam.

writing adele: Winter Haiku
http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/stay-close-through-storm.html
My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. The mishmash of leaves. Burrow into street corners. Nights turn dark early. Creatures scurry seeking warmth. Snuggling soft, they wait. For winter to creep. And leave frosty morning dew. Frozen, white and calm. Trails start to appear. From gleeful strolls through nature. And fast flees for food. A cold breeze pushes. Against rosy cheeks and chins. Puffs of breath appear. Of noses and numbing ears. Comfort found in warmth.

writing adele: My 26th Birthday
http://writingadele.blogspot.com/p/my-26th-birthday.html
My Steamy Stress Reliever. The Calm Before the Storm. Just a Witness to the Crime. Once inside, I head straight for the elevators and push the button to take me up to the 4th floor. The smell of this place is nothing to get excited about and is definitely not where I was hoping to spend my 26th birthday. But, he is my family and we have celebrated all of my birthdays together. We can't miss this one on the fault that he slipped on the stairs. Would he look exhausted? A number 4 lights up above the doors ...

On the Spot: I Do (the First Time)
http://ian-onthespot.blogspot.com/2011/01/i-do-first-time.html
Sunday, January 9, 2011. I Do (the First Time). Cork pops like it does. Not that I normally drink $60 bottles of champagne. Not that I normally drink $60 bottles of champagne. Warm, straight from the bottle. Michèle is fun- crazy fun. French Canadian Janis Joplin crazy fun. Sipping beer barefoot in the sun on a window ledge. Sitting on the floor. Last day of school. Her boyfriend Max home from work, not drunk. I feel guilty and I know. Two months in Europe. All the money’s gone. Both of us back to school.

On the Spot: Ode to Chocolate
http://ian-onthespot.blogspot.com/2011/01/ode-to-chocolate.html
Thursday, January 27, 2011. Chocolate is my weakness. I don’t even know if I want to write about the depths of my choco-holism. One of my favourite meals to cook is chicken mole. It’s chicken covered in a spicy chocolate sauce. It comes from the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The recipe calls for an ounce of chocolate but, really, come on, who can taste an ounce? In my opinion, you need to triple that (at least). I went to Oaxaca once and ate nothing but chocolate for two days. Luckily, I’ve become an ex...

On the Spot: Driving While Stupid
http://ian-onthespot.blogspot.com/2011/03/driving-while-stupid.html
Wednesday, March 9, 2011. When I was a teen there was the first major campaign against drinking and driving. Ads, billboards, MADD, peer pressure against getting behind the wheel of a car after drinking, all of these things helped bring about a change in our society. Suddenly the guy who bragged about drinking a case of beer before driving to the party was no longer cool. It was a major societal change that happened quickly and has stuck. No joke, there is. Stop driving while stupid. With an on coming car.

Words: Sketches of Anna: #1
http://ninaeddy.blogspot.com/2010/11/sketches-of-anna-1.html
Saturday, November 13, 2010. Sketches of Anna: #1. Anna bent over her swollen right knee, her grave young face hidden behind a dark curtain of hair. Her skinny legs and feet were bare, and when she shifted the damage was visible. I tried not to look at the hundreds of tiny indentations, some reddened with blood where the grains had broken the skin’s surface. I moved from the doorway before she looked up to see me; I knew my pitying look would be unwelcome. Posted by Nina Eddy. Dave Eggers on TED.

Charmaine's Spot: I feel...
http://charmainewilkie.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-feel.html
I feel alone when…. My best friend gets a boy/girlfriend. My roommate no longer talks to me. My best friend no longer talks to me. Nothing seems to matter anymore. Nothing seems fun anymore. Nothing has meaning anymore. No one notices you’re not there anymore. No one seems to care. No one is there for support anymore. There is no one yelling back. When there is only silence. I feel like……. I’m a third wheel. I’m second best. I’m all alone. The world is too much. I need to find my hole before I fall.
