The Empty Stash

Saturday, August 18, 2012. The Peril of Knitting. A lace shawl isn't exactly a quick project and applying a normal wage for the hour put in would make the item really expensive. How do you find the balance between getting a fair price and not pricing yourself out of the market? In the end I just looked at what other people were charging and took a guess. I don't expect to make a lot of money here but seeing the item go to someone who will enjoy it and pocketing a little cash is not a bad thing. I knew I ...

The Empty Stash: June 2006

http://www.emptystash.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 30, 2006. Another Stash Project in the Queue. On Monday a friend of mine sought my advice on a lace project that was not going well. She is working on the Birch shawl. In some really pretty Rowan Kidsilk Spray. It didn't take me too long to get Birch back to were it was. It is a very simple lace pattern and since I have done a few lace items in the past I could see what it was supposed to do and didn't have to study the pattern every row. I definite time saver! The Empty Stash: Frolic and Detour

http://www.emptystash.blogspot.com/2007/06/frolic-and-detour.html

Saturday, June 02, 2007. After spending a lot of time working on large projects I really needed something quick. I put the large things aside and looked for some (almost) instant gratification. For Mother's Day, Joanna gave me this yarn:. She is certainly no yarn snob. I think it may have been the ducklings on the label that she really liked but I figured if it was what she liked she should get a sweater from it. We looked around at some patterns and she liked the Monica pattern. Back to the big projects!

The Empty Stash: A Tale of Two Blankets

http://www.emptystash.blogspot.com/2007/09/tale-of-two-blankets.html

Thursday, September 13, 2007. A Tale of Two Blankets. I've been busy with baby blankets. I had one friend with a baby due in June and another due in September. I knew the June baby was a girl but the mother was not big on pink. I picked a very soft lavender and I was in the mood for lace. The parents of the baby are from the UK so I thought I would try and turn the "Rose of England" from Marianne Kinzel's. Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting". She loved the blanket. Pattern, I've done that before". T...

The Empty Stash: Done!

http://www.emptystash.blogspot.com/2007/10/done.html

Sunday, October 28, 2007. The blanket is finally done! Here it is in all its glory. One of the nice things about the pattern is that you sew fleece on the back so you don't need to worry about little fingers and toes getting stuck in the yarn floats. I was lucky to find a really good match. I added the baby's name and birth date. I had a lot of fabric left so I made a matching bear using this pattern. Posted by The Green House at 12:26 PM. The Greens of Grafton. Monday, February 12, 2007. The Benefits of a Clean Room. After much procrastination, we finally got Joanna's room clean. Here is the proof. Now that the room is clean Joanna can have friends come over. We have had Ainsley come over a few times. They like to play dress up. Sometimes they even outlast Rick. The Greens of Grafton. Friday, November 17, 2006. Now that she is four Joanna can do many things. She can clean the burner covers from the stove. She can mop the floor with the Swifter. She can amuse herself by squirting mommy's feet with the Swifter. She can even help make dinner. I think I'm starting to like four! Posted by The Green House @ 6:03 PM. Links to this post. http://graftongreens.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

The Greens of Grafton. Saturday, September 02, 2006. Going to the Picnic and the Ball. Today we had the church picnic. It was a little different this year. Several families hosted small groups at their home for the main meal then we all went to a "surprise location" for desert and other festivities, including 2 baptisms. The hosting families knew the final destination and others figured it out by considering what family had both a pool and the available space to host the entire church. Links to this post.

The Greens of Grafton. Monday, July 31, 2006. Avast Ye Scurvy Dogs. The Green house has been attacked by pirates! Two notorious pirates were right here in the living room. Joanna the Yellow soon spotted Captain Rick Scratchybeard and the battle was on. After a long sword battle Captain Rick was defeated and Joanna stood victorious. The Greens of Grafton. Monday, October 02, 2006. Lots of little things. We were visited by Scurvy Dog Shiloh. Joanna has started to want her turn at the computer. I really don't think it is ergonomically correct for her. Last Friday evening Ainsley Marr. Came over for a pajama party while her parents went to their Bible study. The red smudge on her face is from a red ink stamp pad that she decided was lipstick. Rick tried to sit on the bench to fold laundry but he soon had company. Links to this post.

The Greens of Grafton. Friday, April 28, 2006. I have almost finished catching up from Rick's parent's visit. Of course I still need to wash sheets and collapse the trundle bed but that's another matter. I saw I had a few pictures that I haven't shared yet. This first one if from trying to wake up Joanna for school. She really is not a morning person. I also have a nice picture of Joanna modeling a new dress before church. The Greens of Grafton. Sunday, May 28, 2006. Slow Boat Through Grafton. Yesterday Joanna saw something surprising in our back yard. People were fishing behind our house! Not only that they said they had caught some. This made Joanna want to go out in a boat. Rick promised to take Joanna on a canoe ride. She was a little nervous about it remembering seeing our friend Greg and his son Jonah tip the thing over last year. Zooming in it looks like someone might be slacking there. Links to this post. The Greens of Grafton: December 2006

http://graftongreens.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

The Greens of Grafton. Monday, December 25, 2006. It just wouldn't be Christmas without a bunch of poses in front of the tree. There were lots of gifts to unwrap. Most of them for Joanna. This is nice, can I open more toys now? Mommy and Daddy got a couple gifts too. I think Shiloh was hoping for snow. Joanna had one very large gift. Joanna really liked the Barbie (tm) pet doctor kit. We did get her to try on some clothes. What is Christmas all about? Posted by The Green House @ 12:00 PM.

The Greens of Grafton: June 2006

http://graftongreens.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

The Greens of Grafton. Thursday, June 22, 2006. The weather this morning was very nice, even though thunderstorms are predicted for this evening. For the morning the impending storm just created a nice cooling breeze. Joanna and I went to Tougas Farm. Joanna started by visiting the goats. She thought the long beard on this one was pretty funny. After the goats it was off to the playground. There were plenty of tires to play on. We were both pretty tired when we got home.
