History of Jaro, Leyte. In the early time of the Spanish regime, the section where the Jaro is situated today was a lush forest enjoying its primitive freedom undisturbed by human beings. Thus, ultimately, the word Haro became a by-word among the people and later on used to denote the name of the place when it became a municipality in 1810.
