The Good Life Rides Again. Monthly Archives: August 2014. August 30, 2014. Just over the border between Chile and Bolivia at Ollagüe we started seeing funky sandstone boulders, lots of sandstone boulders. I’m generally a reluctant boulderer, but just the sheer number and awesome formations meant we just hed to stop and play. Given that just walking around leaves you breathless the problems we did were not very hard, but good fun…. Three new boulder problems in Bolivia now. For a Fist Full of Bolivianos.

The Good Life Rides Again. Monthly Archives: April 2014. April 26, 2014. Before flying off to Rio, we had a brief look a the map to see where it was in lattitude relating to Santiago. Did you know it is quite a lot further north? The bus was an experience in itself – we had to run to catch it as it was just about to depart and had no time to stow our bags. It turned out this wasn t unusual – health and safety in the UK would be having fifty fits! What can be said about Rio Carnival? It’s an awesome...

The Good Life Rides Again. Monthly Archives: December 2014. Herbert The Hound and the Rock from Outerspace. December 25, 2014. We said farewell and headed on now fully stocked with nice dry logs. After a couple of wrong turns the enormous volcanic remnant that is Piedra Parada hoved in to view. It is quite awesome, basically a 200m high boulder sat singularly on the plain. The Imposing Rock of Piedra Parada. Barbara and our new friend Herbert the Hound. The night skies were incredible! I fetched Barbara ...

Deepest, darkest Peru… | The Good Life Rides Again

The Good Life Rides Again. Deepest, darkest Peru…. November 16, 2014. We had found out about another overland campsite (Quinta Lala) just on the outskirts of the city on the hill above the Plaza de Armas. The site was very peaceful and had a really nice bunch of other overlanders staying, the campsite owners were lovely too. Other overland travellers enjoying the peaceful campsite at Quinta Lala. Mount Veronica, and a bit of fun with the star trails function on my camera. The view down to the river hundr...

The Good Life Rides Again. South American Pow… or not! December 2, 2014. Lord knows why they haven’t sorted out a single lift ticket where you can ski in all the resorts. Where was the deep El Niño pow we’d been promised? Van living is awesome for beating everyone to the ski hill in the morning cos your already there, however it makes you lazy and we always seemed to actually make it on to the hill after everyone else? Deepest, darkest Peru…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. You are c...

The Good Life Rides Again. La Paz – We Become Overlanders. September 11, 2014. Driving into La Paz you quickly understand that it is on a steep hill as you decend down a helter scelter like dual carrigeway into the center of town. The route to our hotel was fortunately turned out to be fairly straightforward and amazingly we got there without getting misrouted. Even better found that the off-site parking was just across the street – we were dreading finding that by this point! Introducing us to the world...

The Good Life Rides Again. Monthly Archives: June 2014. June 27, 2014. Now proud owners of Steve the 2005 Sprinter, it was time for some van conversion work. The awesome guys at La Chimba hostel. Had said we could use the parking round the back for the build and even use any tools they had in their bodega. This made the whole build possible, thanks guys! The van would also need a healthy amount of insulation to help keep it warm too, and I guess cool on hot days. All the insulation and first fix wiring w...
