http://languagemuse.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

I got my Maltese books and will start reading them tomorrow, through LWT, but that's it. I'll probably come to this mood or phase again in about a year, next September or October sounds probable, but for now. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). And now its over. Language Muse: April 2013
http://languagemuse.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 26, 2013. Now I have managed to read the first two chapters of the first book. I have 402 flashcards with words and sentences. That's the words from the first chapter about 100 extra. I have learned the Maltese alphabet. I need to continue to the numbers. And I'm listening to Radio 101. I'm catching a word every now and then. :-). Zokkor = 1 u 1/2 kikkra. Dqiq = 1 u 1/2 kikkra. Jogurt = 100 dm. Trab = 1 pakkett. Meraq tal-lumi = 1 tablespoon. Now what is "dm"? Well six eggs is a lot. All th...

bouncing to japanese | Language Fixation
https://languagefixation.wordpress.com/2011/10/08/bouncing-to-japanese
As sometimes happens when one is fascinated with so many topics, I have accidentally bounced over to learning Japanese. I’m still reviewing my Hindi books from time to time, but with my girlfriend expressing her interest in learning Japanese, it’s hard for me to resist doing it too. I really love working on a project with someone else rather than just by myself. So far I’ve become addicted to Slime Forest Adventure. To assist with this, I’ve been reading Tae Kim’s Japanese Grammar Guide. In order to just...

Language Muse: How I use flashcards
http://languagemuse.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-i-use-flashcards.html
Wednesday, May 15, 2013. How I use flashcards. I am trying to read and understand the first book of Il-Fiddien trilogy. I type it on LWT one chapter at a time, and translate it into English so that my husband can read it too. When I'm finished with the translation (my husband is not very patient, and wants to know what happens in the chapter ASAP) I move the vocabulary from LWT on flashcards. So, I go through the pile of flashcards and. Separate all the forms of one word I recognize. I don't like learnin...

Language Muse: July 2014
http://languagemuse.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2014. My system of learning a language in two months was purely my own invention, and thoroughly suited myself. I got a simple grammar and vocabulary, marked out the forms and words which I knew were absolutely necessary, and learnt them by heart by carrying them in my pocket and looking over them at spare moments during the day. I never worked for more than a quarter of an hour at a time, for after that the brain lost its freshness. I was delighted with the most difficult characters, C...
