Allen Update: It's the Year of the Rabbit!!
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/its-year-of-rabbit.html
Saturday, February 19, 2011. It's the Year of the Rabbit! On Friday afternoon, our hosts decided to take us out and about. First, we went to the Silk Market for some more great bargaining! While we were on the subway on the way to the market, our friends "blessed" us with the next head-gear they had bought for us. Bunny ears. No joke. They made us wear them the entire afternoon. This is the Year of the Rabbit and sadly, we weren't the only ones wearing bunny ears around town! Happy Chinese New Year!

Thursday, February 25, 2010. A Party in Heaven Today! I got a text from my mom early this morning that her Aunt Lurlyne had passed away. She was my Grannie's oldest sister and one incredible lady! I am so thankful that we were able to see Aunt Lurlyne last July. In fact, we were able to visit with her on her 100th birthday! Yes, she was 100 years old! These are a few pictures of our visit with her on her birthday, and as you can see, she DID NOT look like she was 100 years old! Meanwhile, I've been fight...

Allen Update: I think I can, I think I can....
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-think-i-can-i-think-i-can.html
Friday, February 18, 2011. I think I can, I think I can. So Thursday, February 17th, was the day we climbed the Great Wall of China! Momma Dar had to help us get all bundled up before setting out on our trek. Here, she's showing us how to put on the foot-warmers. Don't think we would've made it without them. It was CRAZY cold! But just before we left, our dear friends pulled out these panda hats, which they had purchased just for this occasion! Not to mention, we got lots of looks and comments! FYI - Dar...

Allen Update: This is why we serve...
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/this-is-why-we-serve.html
Sunday, February 20, 2011. This is why we serve. Upon arrival at the little shop, we discovered it was closed! Ugh (We did get a number to call the owner and discovered she'd be there the next afternoon. We went back the next day and dug through piles of doll clothes to find several matching sets to take back to my #1 daughter.). But after discovering that the shop was closed, we decided to go to the Lama Temple since we had several hours before we were supposed to meet the girls. He prays to it and says,.

Allen Update: Spreading Our Wings!
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/spreading-our-wings.html
Thursday, February 24, 2011. On our last full day in Beijing, our friends had classes so Sarah and I had an entire day to venture out on our own and spread our wings. Thankfully, we managed to make it to the Olympic Village, back to a market we'd visited earlier in the week and took a taxi back to our apartment, even though we couldn't communicate with the driver AT ALL! LOL We had a blast and didn't even get lost! The Olympic venue for cycling. We needed this to ensure we didn't get lost! Thats quite a ...

Allen Update: A Square, a Stroll and a Street with Snacks
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/square-stroll-and-street-with-snacks.html
Tuesday, February 22, 2011. A Square, a Stroll and a Street with Snacks. After visiting the Forbidden City, we went across the street to Tienanmen Square. Dar was explaining to us what happened on June 4, 1989. Maybe we'd been sight-seeing too long, but for some reason things began to get a little silly! Sarah was in her own world! Dar was not quite sure what to think! Oh, what will I do with these crazy girls? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Still sporting the hats! How about snake on a stick? HAD to g...

Allen Update: Oh the Places You Will Go....
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/oh-places-you-will-go.html
Thursday, February 17, 2011. Oh the Places You Will Go. Sarah and I were SO VERY BLESSED this month to travel to Beijing, China, and visit with two very special friends of ours! Our prayer was that we would be an encouragement to both of them, but as it turned out I think we were the ones that were encouraged the most. We were there for one week and shared many, many laughs, tears, hugs, times of worship and study and made memories that will be forever in our hearts and minds. He is SO GOOD to us! Rememb...

Allen Update: Goodbye....for now
http://allenupdate.blogspot.com/2011/02/goodbyefor-now.html
Friday, February 25, 2011. After an amazing week together, our friends took us to the airport late one night. The LAST thing we wanted to do was to say our goodbyes, so we insisted on laughing up until the last possible minute. Then the tears flowed freely. These two laughed and talked on the long subway ride to the airport, trying to get in every moment together possible. Eating at the airport. It was almost mid-night, so EVERYTHING was funny at that point! This makes my heart smile :). Out of the Fog a...
