Mellissa Read-Devine: January 2015
http://readdevine.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2015. I recently had a discussion on Facebook, about how best to describe my work. I had always suggested it was "macro - pointillist" but decided it really didnt describe it sufficiently especially since pointillism. Is important, as is expressionism. I will be content to mention impressionism. As the major influence, and leave my work to explain the rest. Is there actually anything new in art styles these days? Acrylic (as yet untitled) 92cm x 61cm. Links to this post. Something Old...

Mellissa Read-Devine: March 2015
http://readdevine.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 21, 2015. I have been very blessed and have had the time and the resources to go on a small overseas holiday. Spending 5 days and 4 nights in Fiji was a welcome break - despite the weather brought on by the nearby cyclone. (Vanuatu was sorely hit, and I encourage you to donate funds for the relief effort http:/ www.redcross.org.au/cyclone-pam-vanuatu-2015-appeal.aspx. Some souvenir craftwork - wood carving and tapa cloth. I was most depressed coming home! Fertile Soil" Acrylic 60cm x 50cm.

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. The Artist as Optimist. If you manage to get over crippling self doubt and enter art prizes, congratulations! You have earned the Finalist Rank of Optimist. It doesnt matter what happens afterwards, you are already a winner. Of sorts. I love the heady atmosphere of the Art Gallery of NSW. I was there, with my Wynne prize. As well - once I get over my self consciousness about requesting to paint someones portrait. There's the Sulman. Emu Wren" Acrylic on board, 30x30cm. Last week w...
