The Problem With Hand Quilting. Is that it is very slow! At least it is around here! I started hand quilting my Welsh Quilt in November 2012. I don't really mind how long it takes; I am a 'process' quilter no one is going cold waiting for one of my quilts (just as well! The problem is that I had carefully marked all the quilting designs before starting and now most of them have rubbed off! Any tips for marking so that the lines stay for another 3 years? Or do you mark as you go? Triangle border = 5”...

WIPs No. 25 - The Scarf. At the end of last year I listed all my WIPs here. On my blog; Number 25 on my list was a scarf I started it at the beginning of September. I finished it at the weekend. I am really happy with how it turned out, it is beautifully soft and long, and looks really nice with my new winter coat. I especially like the cables. Parkway scarf by Amy Miller. On Wednesday I was once again at the glorious setting of Hampton Court Palace. The gardens were looking stunning, especially the roses, but I was not there to admire the view (although I did wonder about a bit). I was at the Royal School of Needlework for a silk shading/needle painting masterclass with Trish Burr. We managed to get lots done in class. The detail in Trish's designs are amazing, the eye is about 1/8" but we used 6 colours for the detail. Next up was the flowers. The Magna Carta Quilts.

Public WIP declaration, warning this is a long post! I would genuinely like to finish more projects in 2015 than I start! I am not sure if I can mange it, but I have decided to join in with the Finish-Along hosted by Adrianne from 'On the Windy Side' You can find all the details HERE. I think the best place for me to start is to publicly declare all my WIPs (gulp) I am not saying I will finish all of these (I am a realist! A Turn the part project into something smaller and finish it! 5 Block one from 'Bu...

It's all about the Tulips. Angelica the Headless Angel. Actually it would be more accurate to call her Angelica the bodiless angel, as she has had a head for several months now. Ever since last summer when I decided to convert this cross stitch chart into a canvas work/needlepoint design and stitched the head far too big (because I can't count! And have a choice of either the silver textured silk for the background (at the bottom of the photo). Or this white ecclesiastical damask - which do you prefer?

I have finished stitching my 'Tipsy Thistle' I have really enjoyed this project, especially working all of the different stitches, many of which were new to me. The different green squares were fun. I love the whacky colours in the leaves. I really like the purple fronds. I decided to make a bag with my finish piece, nice and large for holding all the stuff I cart to class each week! I have finished filling in the leaves and am quite pleased with how they turned out. I then stitched a needle and thread.

Knitting, stashing and life. I love yarn and I love shopping, but seeing as I’m not working at the moment, I’m on a serious budget. I also might already have a decent amount of yarn. But every once in a while, the thrill of the hunt hits, and I just can’t help myself! I’ve been wanting a couple of new dishcloths lately, so I’ll use that kitchen cotton to start whipping some up! I keep hearing good things about Cat Bordhi’s book, New Pathways for Sock Knitters. Image from amazon.com. The last time my mom ...

Knitting, stashing and life. Now that my WTF, Stripes? Socks are done (more on that on Thursday), I needed a new project. I’ve got a few things brewing, but nothing quite ready to cast on yet. So I grabbed the kitchen cotton I got at the thrift store the other day and got ready to knit a potholder. Several years back, I made a number of potholders using the beginning of knitty’s Kureyon Kozy. I love that I’m always learning new knitting tricks! Sunny Side Up placemat. Middot; August 2. Knitting, stashing and life. The Knitter’s Handshake. You all know what I’m talking about, right? That moment when you spot someone wearing a handknit? And maybe she sees yours? And she was wearing a lovely tonal blue asymmetrical shawl (she couldn’t remember what pattern it was). We admired each others’ work and chatted for a minute about the beauty of mixing garter stripes and lace. My Miller’s Daughter. So, speaking of Rhinebeck…it was amazing! Beautiful weather at Rhinebeck! As well as her friends Je...
