Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Covering up in the Cold. Happy almost-Turkey Day, my stable and unstable readers/writers. How are you enjoying this early Winter? If you live in the midwest, you've experienced a bit of snow when Fall barely seems over yet. If you're a NaNo-er. How is your novel coming? One) I am progressing like a mad train, getting my word count in, and by gum, this novel is gonna be DONE. Early snows and Winter make me watch little haunting music videos. Until I have more details. A local...

Tuesday, April 26, 2016. So I bit the bullet a succumbed to the vast power that is IKEA. IKEA is smart. It provides said IKEA junkies with a food court. I've been collecting tin ceilings. Painting/rehabbing/going through collections of bits and bobs I forgot I had. And attending operatic evenings where they gave me food and drink. Spring performance of Dido. Links to this post. Monday, October 27, 2014. How goes it, my unstable readers/writers? I'd forgotten how this time of year fills me with angst. Let me explain. Warning: this post contains a considerable saturation of foliage.). If you want to get down to it, I miss the feeling of not having to rush. The feeling that I need to get to the next thing. The whatever it is that I'm supposed to do next. Because, let's face it: the generation who used to play outside can't survive a moment without a technological fix. If it is the...

Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Yellow Nail Polish Makes Me Happy. The thing is, my life is an endless stream of chronic fatigue combined with too much caffeine, and trying to keep a balance between the two so I can get through the day. If this interests you, please give me advice. I already know I'm iron deficient. What I did for my birthday. I was down in front with the beautiful people. I just updated my website. Take a look. Friday, July 31, 2015. Dog Days of Summer. So, I've been MIA for more than just a few months, because I've been crazy busy doing too many things, working at too many jobs. Most people get up at the same time each day, drink their programmed coffee, drive 1.5 miles to work, and stay in the same building all day where they know everyone and know what to expect. Anyway. I've been feeling overwhelmed. A good way to describe this feeling is illustrated here by Hyperbole and a Half. So guess what's coming up?

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Spring Day in February. It is February 8th and it feels like April. Don't think for a minute (if you live in my area) that it's going to stay this way. But I have the windows open, and whoo-ha, it could very well be spring! I can honestly say that it makes a huge difference when you show your work to others to give you feedback. "What happens next? Sunday, January 11, 2015. I'm sort of obsessed with this song right now:. Do you get hung up on regrets? Do you want to throw caution to the wind and live outside of your comfort zone? Because I believe there is no more frightening place than inside of one. You THINK you're comfortable and safe, but no. There's a monster inside, and you created it with the tools you've gathered throughout life, and passed down to you by cautious but well-meaning family members. Instead, get a new toolbox. Inside, put...

Wednesday, October 7, 2015. In Which I Try To Fix Stuff. Anyhoo, I decided that my novel is NOT done, and I've been fixing that. I sent a part of it to a copyediting friend. Let me tell you something, writers- it is a humbling and terrifying experience. Get your crap together, because editors' brains are hardwired in a way that normal people's aren't. They have eyeballs kind of like in The Terminator, except they fix a pronoun rather than kill. Fix that dangling modifier! 1 Denial: "Nu uh! Subscribe to: ...

Thursday, September 3, 2015. Confessions of a Library Delinquent. For this reason, the girl would sometimes sneak into the library with her overdue book, look around like a darting mouse, and fling the item over into the 'return' pile, fearing a knowing librarian might attack her, or give her the grand daddy of all stinkeyes. And that's the story of how I'm a library delinquent. Links to this post. Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Yellow Nail Polish Makes Me Happy. I just updated my website. Take a look.
