My life is an ongoing experiment. Polka polka, who wants to polka? June 2, 2007. For some reason, I got a hankering for a specific pair of shoes. This happens to me often, where I get it in my head that I want something very precise, and then can’t quite find. What I’m looking for (at a price I’m willing to pay). In this case, it was a pair of red, white polka-dotted low wedges. After much searching, I found a perfect pair on the Anthropologie. Website, for $238. That little paper triangle that you see a...

My life is an ongoing experiment. January 24, 2007. I refer to this project as my collar or scarflette; my partner insists that it’s a mantle. Whatever you call it, I love how it turned out. It was a long time coming, though. I bought the yarn months and months ago after I fell in love with it online. It’s from www.studioloo.com. I don’t know what changed, but last week I just plunged in, grabbed some needles and started knitting without a pattern. I made it up as I went along, in fact. A Bird in the Hand.

My life is an ongoing experiment. The case of the hidden room. June 22, 2007. Using a sliding bookshelf to create a secret room. Is a brilliant idea, one that I’m determined to copy someday. Our apartment even has a couple of large walk-in closets with appropriately-located doors, so doing this might actually be feasible. I love ikea hacker. Comments Off on The case of the hidden room. My life is an ongoing experiment. June 3, 2007. Important life lesson learned today: Instant Jello chocolate pudding does not set up when made with rice milk. Probably not with soy milk, I’m guessing, either. The Science of Instant Pudding. Did not have a definitive answer, but it seems to have something to do with the proteins present in animal milk that vegetable-based milks lack. My pudding liquid tastes delicious, but what can I do with it other than drink it? Polka polka, who wants to polka?

My life is an ongoing experiment. March 7, 2007. My boyfriend of seven years (eight in August! Another goal for this year is to get rid of some of the extra stuff I’ve accumulated, and slow down the influx of new things. That includes craft supplies! My life is an ongoing experiment. April 29, 2007. I went to visit Steven for his birthday, and we drove from where he lives (Sugar Land) to Austin for the weekend. Here we are at Lake Travis on his 25th birthday. I wore this cute Anthropologie dress for the first time since I bought it massively on sale. Many compliments on the dress ensued. We bumbled around town, visiting shops and being silly. Austin sure has a ton of vintage shops! I had to cut the tag off to wear it, though. April 9, 2007. I feel li...

My life is an ongoing experiment. Peacock picture and framing solutions. February 7, 2007. I bought this great vintage needlepoint piece when I was in Florida over the holidays (thrifted, of course). The only problem was that the frame it was in was damaged, so I took it, along with a couple of other things I wanted to frame, to Cheap Pete’s. Frame factory outlet. Were it not for Yelp. I would never have known about such a great framing shop. But I digress. The case of the hidden room. A Bird in the Hand.
