Images of the crossing over. Boundary, boundaries 境界. Boundary, boundaries 境界. The monastic life is, inherently, about boundaries, either the establishing, breaking, or transcending of them. More often than not, it’s about all three in simultaneous relationship and flux, an interplay as necessary as it is problematic for the monastic institution. In Sanskrit, or realm, and it is translated by the single character 界 (. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). Get ev...

The Dragon's Well 茶: April 2014
http://thedragonswell.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 4, 2014. Rou Gui Cha (premium) • 肉桂茶. After first sampling Rou Gui cha at Kkik Da Geo. I was so taken by it that I dreamed that I'd returned to the tea shop with a giant tortuous and loaded its back with as much Rou Gui cha as it could carry (it had a traditional Korean "jigae", an wooden A-frame usually used for carrying wood on your back, customized to fit its shell), then slowly lead it out the door. Friday, August 29, 2014. Aged Old Bush, Wu Yi "Shui Xian"老歲水仙茶. After being amazed so far by every tea I've tasted from cliffs of Wuyi Mounatin, and Da Hong Pao being the very tea that first got me interested in Chinese tea, I decided to order a small amount of aged "Shui Xian", harvested from 100-year-old trees to further my figurative exploration of the mountain. Alas, a tea by another name would still taste as sweet (or bitter), so let's get brewing. Maybe it should be! Labels: Aged Old Bush. I always...

Damchoe's nun sense. Just in case the world does end…. December 19, 2012. December 19, 2012. I don’t think the world will end on December 21st, 2012. That being said, I haven’t posted on this blog of mine for… oh dear, eight months! So, taking the possible end of the world as a lame excuse, here we are:. This has been a weird year. I found out early on that I would have be having’ visa issues’, and so a great deal of my energy was directed towards working through them. But if it does, let me say this: I ...

Damchoe's nun sense. Back at the Mother Monastery! April 28, 2014. April 28, 2014. Looks like coming back to Namdroling after a 10 month absence is what it takes to get me writing again! Being here, now, feels very special. It is clear to me that this is a blessed place, where practice and Dharma life arise naturally. I feel lucky to be here, and determined to spend my time well. In January of this year, I returned to Rigpa Shedra East. I’m back, again! 3 thoughts on “ Back at the Mother Monastery! You a...

Damchoe's nun sense. July 24, 2015. July 24, 2015. Have my last few posts each been a promise to get back to this blog? I think they have been, I dare not go back and read them. It has that same feeling of listening to a recording of my own voice, not quite real, vaguely uncomfortable, and happy to avoid. If I am a tadpole, what legs do I hope to grow? Expressing my own thoughts and opinions on and off this blog, that’s one. Should I write that I aim to ‘develop in my practice’? I’m back, again! Return t...
The Dragon's Well 茶: May 2014

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Cheong Seok Gol 2014, making "Gu Jeung Gu Po". Last weekend, we made our second annual trip to the Cheong Seok Gol organic tea farm to harvest and roast our own tea. This isn't even tea! This time, a monk name Ho San Sunim, known for the high-quality tea he produces at his temple joined us to help and give advice. I had a lot of fun talking to him even though I couldn't catch much of what he was saying. We somehow managed to communicate quiet well! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Insta...

Monday, March 31, 2014. The scent of Dian Hong. At Kkik Da Geo, last week, I asked about their red tea selection and realized that they actually have a huge variety in stock but just don't push them as much as they do their aged sheng puer and classic oolongs. Inspecting their Dian Hong, I could see no discernible difference in quality to what I had, and the aroma was equally impressive. It was even packaged in the same gold foil, which made me think it could have been from the same source. I honestly ca...

Friday, July 11, 2014. What 2014 Has Brought. First things first - one of my last posts was a response I wrote about an article sent to me about infertility. You can read that here. So, it is only right that I officially (by official, I mean blog official - the info is already on Facebook so that means it's official right? Hehe) announce we are pregnant! I continued to repeat Psalm 139 in my head that whole morning. Oh Lord you have searched me and you know me! I ran into my closet, dug thru my t-shirts ...

From this side of the sun. I travel to live, I write to breathe. Part I: The Heart of Thailand. January 12, 2017. January 12, 2017. Tuesday, December 13th, 2016- I was ready to check Thailand off my bucket list and step foot on my 5th continent! I was not, however, ready for the 15 hour flight ahead of me or the dreaded jet lag.
