Magpie Writes: March 2014

Wednesday, March 19, 2014. How to Waste Time Productively - Part 2. Again, I say, diversify your hopper. What you put in to your writer's brain is as important - MORE IMPORTANT - than what you get out. All of this from a short piece in a newspaper I would normally not read. So, in this installment of Wasting Time Productively. Let me see if I can introduce you into something that you would not normally read - and hopefully it can spark creativity for you too. The Catacombes of Paris. Don't have internet ...

Magpie Writes: February 2014
http://magpiewrites.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 27, 2014. Joy is Kicking All the Ass. I looked at my browser bookmarks and I felt JOY. You know, Joy, don’t you? Maybe you make fun of Joy or sing about her only during the holidays, but Joy is your best mate. You should let her into your life more often. I felt JOY while looking at my bookmarks because seeing the list of my resent research items made me happy to be a writer. I held on to that joy for a moment because it’s a gift. Don’t knock Joy. She’s BAD ASS. THANKS. (Thank you ...

Mama KP Mondays-Welcome | Musings
https://kpsimmon.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/mama-kp-mondays-welcome
Just the thoughts of KP. Asymp; Leave a comment. I know… It’s been awhile since I’ve been here. I’m going to be honest and tell you that life got in the way. Family, work, travel and moving…yes, moving! Couldn’t we do that and grow and flourish, dissect and purge, create and rejoice, and everything else together right here? I mean, I have this crazy blog that I do little with. I love to write. And I *think* I have thoughts on this topic that might be able to help others. So, I’m biting the bullet a...

And then she was like blah blah blah: May 2015
http://andthenshewaslikeblahblahblah.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
And then she was like blah blah blah. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. I am in the middle of drafting a new project, and (as is my custom) I've gotten a bit stuck sorting out the stakes for my characters. So I've turned to reading, which usually helps unlock the creative side of my brain. Here's what I've been reading this weekend:. 1 The Sky Is Everywhere. I read this while visiting my friend's cabin at Fish Lake. The others went off to hike at Bryce and I stayed behind to read and write (I love Bryce, but ...

And then she was like blah blah blah: the best date
http://andthenshewaslikeblahblahblah.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-best-date.html
And then she was like blah blah blah. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Last week, Gentleman Caller came over to make me dinner. We realized, though, that his recipe was going to take an hour and a half, so we put all of his groceries in the fridge and walked up to the Middle Eastern restaurant by my house. It was raining so we crowded under one umbrella. We went back to my house and watched World War Z. With Spencer on the couch. Oh, and one other thing. So that was the best date ever. And then she was like blah blah blah. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. This is the biggest favor I have ever asked you guys (even bigger than the time I asked you to "like me" on Facebook, and may we all pretend that never happened, ok? I read this book in junior high (possibly elementary school) and I LOVED it. So much. I read it and re-read it. It was probably the first paranormal book I ever read, and to-date, it was probably the best. Never specified). Her mother objects to this plan. An aunt and un...Prett...

And then she was like blah blah blah: September 2014
http://andthenshewaslikeblahblahblah.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
And then she was like blah blah blah. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Is there any better feeling than realizing you're too old for some nonsense? I've always been a people-pleaser by nature. Not only do I want people to like me, but I REALLY want people in positions of (perceived or real) authority to realize I am following their rules. Because of that, I've always been a good employee. A good volunteer. A good team-player. I didn't want to do any of it. If I couldn't support how it was being done. But 30 ...

whimsical writing: Green Eggs and Hamming it

A peek into my crazy mind as I tackle the world of writing. Thursday, July 21, 2011. Green Eggs and Hamming it. Maybe the point of Green Eggs and Ham wasn't about trying new things. Maybe the point was that we shouldn't cave or conform to the "Sam I A m's. In our life. Maybe.but where would be the fun in that? Small Town Shelly Brown. July 21, 2011 at 9:32 PM. whimsical writing: Why Write?
http://whimsicalwriting.blogspot.com/2011/08/why-write.html
A peek into my crazy mind as I tackle the world of writing. Monday, August 22, 2011. First, a shout out to David Powers King. A truly awesome person! He posted some awards for me on his blog. If you haven't checked him out, do it. He is working on some pretty amazing stuff. Now on to my post . . . It reared its ugly head again, in the sixth grade, when my parents brought my dark poetry into question (clearly I had issues). Into the literary side of things. So here I sit, years later, my impractical degre...
