Olivia Saves the Day: India Memories
http://olivia-saves-the-day.blogspot.com/2015/04/india-memories.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2015. I can't believe it's been 10 years this month since I returned from 4 weeks in India! I joined my maternal grandfather, G.S.G. Who was there doing family history research. His ancestral home was in the middle of a remodel, so we stayed with a family that's related through marriage in a village nearby. My job was to document photographically. Here are some highlights. Processing wheat. Or at least pretending to so I can photograph it. Yes, that is me! I still have that outfit.

Caucajewmexdian: Cauca
http://caucajewmexdian.blogspot.com/p/cauca.html
Playing with history and ethnicity through our Sikh/Jewish/Mormon family's experience. In a 1775 doctoral dissertation which divided mankind into four races, Johann Friedrich Blumenbach introduced the term "Caucasian." By his formulation, this "race" included all Europeans, North Africans, Middle Easterners, South Asians, and most Central Asians. The only groups not included, in fact, were East Asians, sub-Saharan Africans, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders. At different times and/or for different ...

Caucajewmexdian: Hostess and the House of Saud
http://caucajewmexdian.blogspot.com/2012/11/hostess-and-house-of-saud.html
Playing with history and ethnicity through our Sikh/Jewish/Mormon family's experience. Thursday, November 29, 2012. Hostess and the House of Saud. When would you vote for your own employer to go under? With limited information on the Hostess case, we decided we'd probably have voted against the pay cut. After all, what's the point of sacrificing just to extend the decline of a dying concern? Which is when our conversation turned to the House of Saud. Which are also powerful motivators for supporting a gi...

Tomorrow is Another Day... to Quilt!: January 2014
http://modernscarlett.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tomorrow is Another Day. to Quilt! Or sew or craft or otherwise be creative. Tuesday, January 7, 2014. A Revolution in Resolutions. I love New's Resolutions. And I rarely keep them. I usually set broad goals like "lose weight" and specific ones like "write for 2 hours per week." But the goals usually span most of my life areas: health, family, work, and church. 1 My church calling took A LOT of my time. 2 My hobby room is disorganized and overfull (it doubles as my clothes closet). My lack of time spent ...

Tomorrow is Another Day. to Quilt! Or sew or craft or otherwise be creative. Monday, July 29, 2013. Aghast, I Say! Last week during the last day of summer term, I was giving a lecture on Performance Feedback Systems (also known as Public Posting). I gave a few examples about how public posting is used in society, such as when workplaces post those "44 Days Without An Accident" signs;. Only one student raised her hand. Links to this post. Tomorrow is Another Day... to Quilt!: In Plain Sight
http://modernscarlett.blogspot.com/2013/05/in-plain-sight.html
Tomorrow is Another Day. to Quilt! Or sew or craft or otherwise be creative. Thursday, May 2, 2013. I love almost everything about my husband. Even those pesky quirks. Like this one: I don't know how many times a week I hear, "Honey, do you know where the is? I'm pretty sure that's a married guy thing. I certainly remember my father hollering this out to my mother regularly. And I've heard friends' husbands say it. Took me awhile, but I now use these "quirks" to my advantage. I've shared in earlier posts...

Time for a post, and I've got just the topic to keep me at it for many weeks. I work in higher ed, a job requiring a lot of self-discipline in order to get research and writing done so that I can get published so that I can get satisfactory annual reviews in order to keep my job. Tomorrow is Another Day... to Quilt!: Careful What You Wish For!
http://modernscarlett.blogspot.com/2013/07/careful-what-you-wish-for.html
Tomorrow is Another Day. to Quilt! Or sew or craft or otherwise be creative. Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Careful What You Wish For! Way past time for a new post! I think blogging has lost its allure for me. Maybe. Or maybe it's just a lack of topics. My life is boring. Last week had an interesting occurrence, though. But on we went. Got on the expressway to travel across town, and took a (long curving mile-long) ramp to exit one freeway to get on another. And it looked like this. We were stuck there on the...
