Oelwein & Western: January 2015
http://oelweinwestern.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
A Fictional Route for Rail Simulator 2014. Sunday, January 11, 2015. The other route item I've been working on has been a depot for one of the towns. It's patterned after a Milwaukee Road style A depot, but with some correctly colored textures it should make a good CGW substitute. Once I get a hold of some actual CGW station plans from the CNW Historical Society, I'll make a more accurate model. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Golden Age of Railroading Blog. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Amazing Vegetation Update for the RWA Route. Wayne Campbell has recently published a vegetation and texturing update for the RailworksAmerica "Lakeside Route" (Riverside, Waterton and Atlantic - RW&A). This update to the route includes an extensive overhaul of the distant and lineside vegetation and improved terrain texturing for the whole route. And it looks remarkably good. You can download the update. In the RailworksAmerica file library. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Oelwein & Western: June 2014
http://oelweinwestern.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
A Fictional Route for Rail Simulator 2014. Monday, June 30, 2014. In the route, Oelwein is the hub for several lines. As a result, the town hosts the main freight yard for the line, along with light and heavy repair shops for both locomotives and cars. The above screen capture shows the yard after laying out the track. For this route, I'm using 3DTrains. ScaleRail (SP version) track. It is a payware product, but it is worth the money. Oelwein & Western: So many buildings... so little time

A Fictional Route for Rail Simulator 2014. Saturday, July 12, 2014. So many buildings. so little time. Part of the Oelwein Yard build is modeling the various shop and service buildings. Some of these buildings, like the current Transco Shop facilities are still in existence today. The old diesel shop buildings however, were torn down recently. Here is the first segment, which would correspond to the lower right segment in the aerial photo from Bing Maps. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple templat...

Oelwein & Western: Second Repaint
http://oelweinwestern.blogspot.com/2014/08/second-repaint.html
A Fictional Route for Rail Simulator 2014. Saturday, August 23, 2014. Another repaint out of the paint shop. Basically, it is a copy of the first repaint but without the OWRR logo, lube plates, and wheel dot. When you start mixing cars in a train with subtle differences, it adds a more prototype feel to the train. Next time you're watching a real train go by, keep a mental count of the exact identical cars you can spot. So far, my count has been zero (0)! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
