Gospel of John Duthie. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. John Shelby Spong is either liked or disliked by Christians, depending mainly on whether you are liberal or conservative in your views. I tend to find Spong refreshing, however he does like to talk about himself quite often. I do not agree with everything he says. We can see this already in churches such as the WestBoro Baptists. I enjoy reading books by Philip Yancey, and have just completed reading this book "Reaching for the invisible God". Here are some parts that stood out. Words in church tend to confuse people. The pastor proclaims that "Christ himself lives in you" and "we are more than conquerors," and although these words may stir up a wistful sense of longing, for many people they hardly apply to day-to-day experiences.

Deception is the act of convincing another to believe information that is not true, or not the whole truth as in certain types of half-truths. Deception involves concepts like propaganda, distraction and/or concealment. Modern geologists and geophysicists consider the age of the Earth to be around 4.54 billion years. Is God therefore guilty of deceiving the geologists and geophysicists?
