I see that all the time when looking at landscape painting or viewing the Lord of The Rings series for the first time. Typogra...

Marcel Smith- Type 1 Class. A Man and His Typeface. This might be the underrated resource for a graphic designer in my book. Wheather it’s a documentary or just a simple cartoon, movies have made their mark on pop culture. All of its variables like the script, camera angles and posters can be interlinked through the process of the mind. But what does this have to do with graphic design? I can name one and I’ll end with one: Star Wars (except Episode I, don’t know what they were thinking.). Typographers f...

November 2015 – A Man and His Typeface
https://marcelsmithblog.wordpress.com/2015/11
Marcel Smith- Type 1 Class. A Man and His Typeface. Here are the type crimes that Lupton bluntly describes though out the book. Horizontal and vertical scaling. Some typefaces look good at a large size, but when smaller look weak. Minimal differences in type size make some designs look unrestrained. Auto spacing give an uneven effect. Poorly shaped text blocks. Full of holes in a column. Bag rag caused by an ugly wedge. Punctuation eats the edge if used excessively. November 16, 2015. November 16, 2015.
