the Greek Alphabet

The greek alphabet developed during the early times of Ancient Greece, while they were still in contact with the Pheonicians. The Pheonicians were traders from Lebanon, who had colonies all over the Mediterranean, including Cyprus. They were the first people to have a phonetic alphabet, hence the name, PHEONICians. Latin equivalent = greeks call it. A,a = alfa. B,b = beta. G,g = gamma / gama. D,d = delta. E,e = e yilon. Z,z = zhta. H,h = hta. Q,q = qhta. V = beta or veta. E = e psilon. Short e - λ or κ.

Cyprus has had a very strong greek influence since the days when the early greeks, the Myceneaens and the Minoans, fled to the island after the fall of Greece to the Dorians. After this time, the island was taken away from Greece by many an empire, from the Persians to the British, to the Ottoman. Even today, it is not part of greek, even though the majority of the population are considered greek. With the same basic culture, and the same language, Cyprus has always had "the Greek connection".

Well folks, unfortunately it looks like I will be on sabbatical again- not of my own choosing, I just don't have access to the programs that make my comic run, and I won't for the rest of the summer.
