Because the adventure doesn't stop after thirty. Looking for Sean McLachlan. He mostly hangs out on the Civil War Horror. Blog these days, but feel free to nose around this blog for some fun older posts! You can also find him on his Twitter feed. Wednesday, 18 August 2010. As I mentioned in my last post, I've been experimenting with some horror photography. Here's the same grave in a reversed color image. Check out the skull. It looks like something my kid would draw! Welcome to Literary Purgatory. My History Books and Articles. Friday, 31 July 2015. Military History Photo Friday: Mamluk Warriors. This impressive guy is a Mamluk nobleman from Aleppo, in what is now Syria. He was painted by William Page in the early 19th century and the image comes via Wikimedia Commons. The Mamluks started as slave soldiers in 13th century Egypt, fighting as elite cavalry and eventually taking over. That fateful charge is depicted in another early painting. Alex J. Cavanaugh. Welcome to Literary Purgatory. My History Books and Articles. Friday, 18 February 2011. Photo Friday: The Globster. It's the end of a long week and I'm feeling frivolous, so this Photo Friday is dedicated to one of my favorite mystery beasts- the globster! What's a globster, you ask? Alas, I've never seen a globster. My closest brush with the unknown was "seeing" the infamous Thunderbird photo. I have to be content reading about them at Globhome. Welcome to Literary Purgatory. My History Books and Articles. Tuesday, 14 July 2015. Travel Tuesday: Flying around Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Wait, who's that in the pilot's seat? Yep, yours truly is flying a plane! More specifically I'm flying a Piper Cherokee Archer II, a small four-seater, around Tenerife.
