Thank You Everyone who kept him in their prayers and thoughts during his tour of Afghanistan. My soldier Grandson is in Cyprus at the moment en route back to the UK. I say we are happy and grateful is an understatement. We are more than Grateful. More than Happy. Our boy was injured out on patrol and sustained four broken ribs. But we did not allow our tears to flow, well not for too long.

I am starting to cut back my customer's Buddleias, usually to about a foot from the ground. I've had good luck leaving the branches through the winter, and hard pruning around mid to late March. Threw in some Cinnamon Basil (cute little flowers), Peppermint, Greek Oregano and dill. Some tips for your annuals. They love sun but droop if overwatered. Only water if plant is wilting. To dazzle us; it's at its best right now. A little unruly, but, hey, that's what my shears are for. I'm always interested where plant names come from - Lonicera come from the dashing renaissance botanist Adam Lonicer. Who, in 1500's Germany, was a doctor, math whiz, botanist, publisher, writer and scholar. Whew!

I recently had the pleasure of gardening at a place in Essex. Which had a beautifully translucent 'Neon' sedum. I couldn't keep my eyes off it. This sedum is drought tolerant, easily dividable, adaptable to full sun or. Part shade, and is the most luminous of all sedums. Natch! One of my customer-friends went to Perennial Pleasures. Nursery in East Hardwick and brought back a beautiful reddish-pink Phlox, maybe it was Cabot Pink.
