Heather In Progress: 100 words #1
http://heatherinprogress.blogspot.com/2013/01/100-words-1.html
Wednesday, January 09, 2013. I chose 7 adjectives and 7 nouns at random from the dictionary. I matched up one of each for seven days. Each day for a week, I will write a 100-word story using and/or inspired by (loosely or closely) each word pair. Antepenult: the third syllable from the end of a word, as in te. Third from last. Third from last isn’t too bad for my first marathon. Posted by Heather In Progress. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sermon on the Mount of Laundry. A poem a day.
Heather In Progress: Bike riding
http://heatherinprogress.blogspot.com/2012/08/bike-riding.html
Friday, August 10, 2012. Last Spring, I posted about a bike ride. Sune, my little Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix, likes getting to go with me. She sits in the basket on the front of my bike (named Mabel, a pic of her here. Here was my view going East on my ride tonight. You can see Grand Mesa in the distance dappled with sunlight and shadows from the clouds high above. More clouds are piled up over the top of it. There are some industrial buildings on the other side of this field, and up close, a b...Heading W...

Heather In Progress: Verbs
http://heatherinprogress.blogspot.com/2011/03/verbs.html
Saturday, March 12, 2011. My bike 11 miles- 5.5 out and 5.5 back- all along the riverfront trail. Cows, horses, hay, stagnant water, and weeds- and loved it. Why geese not in water always hang out in pairs. The kids in a house I saw with the coolest tree house ever. A hawk swooping low over the brush, looking for lunch. A beautiful March breeze on my skin under a translucent blue sky painted with all shapes and sizes of clouds. My mouth whenever I saw bugs in the air. A chapter of The Clockwork Three.

A Dragon Writes: Flip flop
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2012/01/flip-flop.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. So I switched stories; I found myself at a bit of a wall on Spirit of the Hunt (the handwritten one) so I switched over to the sequel. It's a bit liberating to be able to just change stories when I get stuck, rather than being wedded to one and forced to keep writing on it. Gotta finish one before I can start thinking about what order I want to try and publish them in! I want a le...
A Dragon Writes: NaNoWriMo season starts today!
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2012/09/nanowrimo-season-starts-today.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Tuesday, September 04, 2012. NaNoWriMo season starts today! The past months have been filled with Camp NaNoWriMo. Saying farewell to Script Frenzy. And getting settled in my new job as Lead Forums Moderator at OLL. For all events. But now is when I have to get serious. And this year, I can't fail at NaNoWriMo like I did last year. I have a great number of great ideas tugging at my brain, and I am going to sch...
A Dragon Writes: So close, and so far away!
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2011/10/so-close-and-so-far-away.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Saturday, October 29, 2011. So close, and so far away! We're down to two days now. This is one of the best parts of NaNoWriMo, to me. The anticipation, the nerves. I love it. The buzz on the forums builds to a positively electric level, so that you can almost feel the excitement. SO I'm spinning it with Carmilla herself as the main character, and a sympathetic, tragic figure. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
A Dragon Writes: #WIP500
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2012/01/wip500.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Monday, January 02, 2012. Joining a new challenge for the new year. I seem to do better with concrete goals to aim for (even if I don't actually complete them totally. So in the interest of that, I've joined #WIP500. I'll also be tweeting about my progress (or lack thereof.). Let's do this thing. For personal reference: 126. 8:26 PM, January 03, 2012. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Im a Southern belle wi...
A Dragon Writes: Dealing with sociopathy
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2013/07/dealing-with-sociopathy.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Saturday, July 06, 2013. While working on my new version of Double Edged Sword (I really need a new title for that) I realized that one of my main characters is a sociopath. In short: A sociopath. This provides interesting opportunities. I recently came upon the blog for a diagnosed sociopath. By it To the point of obsession. I may even hit my camp word count goal for the first time! If you want to further yo...

Some days I think I live a charmed life. Hello Cold, Goodbye Cold. Handel’s Messiah →. Here’s what I was working on last week! It’s a “mantel” piece, that’s not really on a mantel, and a homemade advent calendar for my kiddos! I got these sparkly red balls at Sam’s Club last year after Christmas, for around $2 (for all 6 of them) I believe. They are actually tea light holders, but candles are not always of great use at our home, for various reasons. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 being my children! As for how my li...
A Dragon Writes: Good progress!
http://writing-dragon.blogspot.com/2012/01/good-progress.html
8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Friday, January 06, 2012. Last night I got into the zone. I hit a good place in the story, full of angst and drama, and blew the #WIP500 goal out of the water. The 4th, I wrote almost nothing. I was so tired I couldn't focus, and only ended up writing about 150 words. but yesterday? 1500 SMOKED the total. That's a good two-day buffer on my 365 day challenge. Call of the hunt. Spirit of the hunt. I am finding ...

8220;Meddle not in the affairs of the dragon; for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.”. Saturday, January 07, 2012. Tracking spreadsheet for #WIP500. Because I'm writing offline, I'm finding it difficult to keep up with my daily totals. I'm writing them down, sorta, in my notebook, but I've been bad about it. I'm marking which day is which, but I don't want to re-count each time. I also have it flagging days you wrote under 500 with red, and over 500 with green. Here's the clean copy. I am the c...

I have 2 kids, 3 cats, and a dog. I like to grow basil. I have a cherry tomato plant in my yard that looks like it's drunk but makes the best tomatoes I've ever had. I have a disabled husband, and suffere from a severe case of Uber Lazy myself. I'm a bit of a spendthrift, and love to drop silly money on microt...

Friday, November 2, 2007. 23 Things Assignment #6. I've just finished experimenting with Google Docs. Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Okay, so I didn't get this done in a week. I will still make it to 7, though! I chose 7 adjectives and 7 nouns at random from the dictionary. I matched up one of each for seven days. Each day for a week, I will write a 100-word story using and/or inspired by (loosely or closely) each word pair. Adjective – unrifled: of a firearm; not having rifling or internal spiral grooves inside the barrel. Will a magnet stick to a Slinky? A slinky’s metal, right? Do dogs like grapes? Adject...

Heather's Shenanigans in South America. After years of receiving torturous emails about YOUR travel adventures to exciting destinations, I'm finally taking my own trip! I'm heading to South America for two months on Feb. 1st - backpacking through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia (or at least that's the plan! So thanks for checking in. Heather in Senegal
Tuesday, July 01, 2008. I wonder if the magical power of that part of the package was supposed to be its ability to force a toubob to hold and worry about it for the duration of a long and uncomfortable car ride. Posted by Heather @ 6:39 AM. Tuesday, April 15, 2008. My dear friend Ellia has pointed out that I haven't said a thing about what I'm doing after Peace Corps. I've thought of this blog as a forum for my Senegal life, so I haven't been talking about life afterwards, but in truth, post-Senegal...
