Hematology Competitive Insights

Monday, August 24, 2009. Resumption after an extended hiatus. Things have been really insanely busy on the work front over the last year, necessitating some radical prioritisation and thus I have only posted on Pharma Strategy Blog. Instead of here and Oncology Market Trends. It will be changing from this week as things gear up for some interesting new perspectives on the Pharma CI front and I'd like to take the time to thank everyone for their patience during the hiatus. Monday, November 3, 2008. The st...

Hematology Competitive Insights: CML - Gleevec or a take a chance on a transplant?

http://hematologymarketinsights.blogspot.com/2008/10/brick-walls-are-not-there-to-keep-us.html

Wednesday, October 1, 2008. CML - Gleevec or a take a chance on a transplant? 8220;The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”. Which led me to wonder what will happen for patients with chronic myeloid/myelogenous leukemia. What would you do if it was you or a family member? Pharmaceuticals, biote...

Hematology Competitive Insights: Trick or treat? When new therapies stretch the price barrier

http://hematologymarketinsights.blogspot.com/2008/11/trick-or-treat-when-new-therapies.html

Monday, November 3, 2008. When new therapies stretch the price barrier. Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare blood disorder that affects around 10,000 people globally. The red blood cells in PNH patients are weak and are destroyed more rapidly than normal. This causes the urine to turn red or dark during an episode (or paroxysm) of red cell destruction (or hemolysis). Has developed a new treatment for PNH called Soliris (eculizumab). It's hard to justify such a high price for a therapy whe...

Hematology Competitive Insights: Precise location of an oncogene may determine the onset of childhood leukemia

http://hematologymarketinsights.blogspot.com/2008/07/precise-location-of-oncogene-may.html

Monday, July 14, 2008. Precise location of an oncogene may determine the onset of childhood leukemia. With intensive treatment involving chemotherapy, over half of children are cured. But scientists hope to be able to develop targeted therapies that are less toxic than chemotherapy, based on knowledge of the biological processes behind T-ALL. VIB-KU.Leuven) indicates that the location in the cell where these proteins are found plays an important role in the entire carcinogenic mechanism. Many forms of ca...

Friday, July 25, 2008. Forgotten side of the Iraq war: shortage of meds for cancer patients. This interesting (and sad) letter in the New England Journal of Medicine. Highlights the shortage of chemotherapy treatments for children suffering from leukemia:. There was a significant inverse relationship between the amount of prescribed chemotherapy that was administered and the risk of relapse.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Oncology Market Trends: Eeek, I've been tagged! Now what?

http://oncologymarkettrends.blogspot.com/2008/09/eeek-ive-been-tagged-now-what.html

What's new in the world of cancer. Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Eeek, I've been tagged! I got tagged by my friend Sarah Arrow this morning. She's a lovely Essex lass who is the salt of the earth and would do anything for her friends. You can find her on Twitter. Or her excellent courier blog. Being tagged is a game bloggers play where they have to write six random things about their self, and tag six other people. It's a great way to spread the word about other people's blogs. 3 Curry is my favourite food.

What's new in the world of cancer. Friday, July 25, 2008. Ethnicity and breast cancer - does it matter? Breast cancer research needs to evaluate whether a person's ethnicity influences their response to treatment and its outcome, according to researchers at Imperial College London and published in The Lancet online. One example is a drug called Herceptin. Another research group at the University of Miami, Fl has been looking at whether breast tissue samples from different ethnicities include groups of di...
