lost in wonder, love and praise: November 2011
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Thursday, November 17, 2011. Check out my July posts to read about my stance on Independence Day. I'm still not sure about Thanksgiving. Even though its origins had religious overtones, it’s little more than secular in our culture today. And even though the pilgrims were probably pretty thankful for those natives they ran across, the sentiment didn’t last too long, did it? That reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite TV shows, FOX’s King of the Hill. Often I don't a...

lost in wonder, love and praise: confessions of an evangelical egalitarian
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2012/01/confessions-of-evangelical-egalitarian.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Thursday, January 5, 2012. Confessions of an evangelical egalitarian. Today, I'm coming clean, as if any reading this don't know by now. I'm an egalitarian. I believe that God calls both men and women to serve him in all capacities of church leadership and ministry, and I reject the principle of male headship in marriage and family. The scene shifts to Wheaton College. I was a young theology student who still clung to his unexamined legalism disguised as garden variet...

Lost in wonder, love and praise. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have turned into idols of clay. - Styx. The dearest idol I have known,. Whate’er that idol be. Help me to tear it from Thy throne,. And worship only Thee. But we all bow down to idols. I knew a lot of people growing up who idolized their children. Their life was consumed with their kids, trying to never let them experience pain or feel sad or want for anything. Later on, when these kids were bli...I am ...

lost in wonder, love and praise: June 2011
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Saturday, June 11, 2011. How Should We Sing (part 3). Sing all. See that you join with the congregation as frequently as you can. Let not a slight degree of weakness or weariness hinder you. If it is a cross to you, take it up, and you will find it a blessing.". This is one of my favorite of Wesley's points. We've all been in services in which participation is spotty. Many aren't singing, or at least aren't engaged enough to be engaged in full participation. Another probl...

lost in wonder, love and praise: complete
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2011/11/complete.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Sunday, November 6, 2011. Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;. Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight;. Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light. These are beautiful words that describe my grandpa, Garret Herbert Aigner, who joined the Church triumphant last summer at the age of 90. He was a wonderful man who had a way of living the gospel in even the most mundane circumstances. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

lost in wonder, love and praise: October 2011
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Sunday, October 30, 2011. It's truth, but it's not worship.". This was a line written by a fellow blogger to whom I responded by my last couple of posts. Not to beat a dead horse, but this line has stuck with me over the past several weeks. He was speaking about the text of the standard hymn "There's a Wideness in God's Mercy," which he claimed spoke truth about God, but that it wasn't worship. For the love of God is broader. Than the measure of our mind;. Hymns Aren't Be...
