Hoagland Mission: April 2009
http://hoaglandnzmission.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 24, 2009. Last week I talked about Sister Scott. This week she was sustained as the new Relief Society president. Sister Carpenter is moving to Hamilton. We will miss her. While this is not the best picture, it is the only one I have of our two institute students together. Muffi on the left and Ofa on the right. They are resting here during our Good Friday activity. Ola Langi, our primary president is in the middle. They were watching Ola's three boys play rugby. Friday, April 17, 2009.

Saturday, May 30, 2009. Winter is on it way. We talked with Jenni and Rob via skype video phone today. What a great service that is. The big news this time was Chase lost his first tooth and we could see very well the big hole left by it's loss. He also showed us his T-ball uniforms. They have a practice uniform and game uniform. "OH MY! We had a nice chat with Rob as well. This picture of the sunrise was taken after seminary this week. Sunday, May 24, 2009. Across the street from the rugby field is a re...

Friday, February 27, 2009. Sunday evening we attended the Kinikini's family home evening. We have an open invitation and enjoy being with them. They discussed family goals and I was asked to print up the chart with their goals and the rules to attain them. They will hang it on their lounge (Living room) wall. Here are a couple of more pictures from Christchurch. The clouds wrap around the hills to to east like this quite often. This picture were taken a block from our flat just before 9:00 am. The elders...

Hoagland Mission: October 2009
http://hoaglandnzmission.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Sister Hoagland had a little surgery today to remove a sebaceous cyst. It has been growing on her arm for about three months. It became very sore and annoying. She now has 9 stitches on her wrist. The dark spot in the middle was where one doctor a couple of weeks ago lanced it, but that was very painful and useless. The gym has a collection of home made and branded machines. A little gym humor. Hola Langi and her mother Manui. Hola is one of Sister Hoagland's piano students.

Monday, December 28, 2009. Last Week of active mission. The Saturday before Christmas we joined some of the Tongan's for a barbecue. Here are the sisters with a couple of children. Ola, in front is pregnant and a little off her feed. We had chicken, and sausage. I don't remember a vegetable this time. The 21st was our last day of service at the district library. Above are three of the librarians. Two others were already on holiday. We were met by this wonderful rooster as we drove into the farm yard.

Hoagland Mission: December 2008

Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Tuesday, Dec. 30. In case you are wondering what we did on New Years Eve, this is it. Before going to our English lesson we took what was supposed to be a 15 minute hike up to a world war ii gun in placement on a hill on the north side of the Grey River. The area is called Cobden, where most of the Tongan members live. This is looking south towards downtown Greymouth. We live three blocks north below the hill at the far end . The hike turned out to be 156 steps up the hill.

Hoagland Mission: August 2009
http://hoaglandnzmission.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 29, 2009. Our hard working missionaries have had two more baptisms this week. They took place rather quickly as the young men were moving to Nelson that very night. Elder Hoagland. Had the pleasure of interviewing these fine young men and they both had a knowledge and testimony of the gospel. They had been attending our meetings. In some ways it was like watching Laurel and Hardy. They had one towel that was damp for the three that were in the water, and Elder Schipper. Suits was just bi...

Hoagland Mission: Last trip to Nelson
http://hoaglandnzmission.blogspot.com/2009/12/last-trip-to-nelson.html
Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Last trip to Nelson. A friend of ours, Guillermo Rodriquez, asked us some questions about our living conditions as well as the locals. Here is our reply to him. We went to the motor races at a dirt track with brother Venables Saturday evening. In the picture is Rob V. Ashley V. and her friend. Behind them is Reg Barrow from West Port Branch. Reg's grandson's came with him and we all stayed with the Venables. Here are the boys playing with Joshua's race car set in the garage.
