Making and repairing tuned percussion. We have developed our own designs of standard 4.3 octave and 5 octave concert marimbas. We also offer a 4-octave "Modest Marimba". All models have solid hardwood frames. They are extremely robust, but easy and quick to assemble and disassemble, and will pack into a small car. Notebars of honduras rosewood or padauk, and resonators of powder-coated aluminium. The bars (triple-tuned) can be provided at the pitch of your choice (440, 442, 443).

We interrupt our series on Herman Winterhoff for an update on my "vintage" xylophone build (I suppose that should be "semi-vintage", a true vintage xylo would be a strohfiedel. Making and repairing tuned percussion. Repairs can be undertaken to all tuned percussion instruments. Including: retuning, repairing or replacing bars and entire keyboards; repairing broken or damaged frames; fabricating components in wood and metal. I have worked for music services, instrument suppliers, orchestras, students, enthusiasts, and several prominent soloists. In the future I may document interesting repair jobs on the blog.

Making and repairing tuned percussion. Can be provided with case or stand. Traditionally the glock is made with carbon steel bars but aluminium alloy could be used as a lighter alternative. The normal range used to be regarded as two octaves and a fourth G to C, but nowadays makers routinely offer a range of three octaves or more. Resonators and a damping bar can also be incorporated.
