ButterSuite: Team Catserole: Hooray!
http://buttersuite.blogspot.com/2009/11/team-catserole-hooray.html
Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Thursday, November 5, 2009. When my friend Andrew asked if I would collaborate with him on a casserole cook-off, I was reticent. My culinary skills are best served in a cake pan or with frosting. I relented because it was, after all, casserole and I'll do just about anything for cheese. If I were to develop a casserole recipe from scratch, a dream-casserole, what would it taste like? What textures would be most pleasing? Andrew's Mom's Recipe for King Ranch Chicken.

Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Thursday, May 28, 2009. It's Not Easy Being Green: Lime Sugar Cookies*. Tastes like a margarita without the booze. This recipe is one of my oldest non-family recipes. It is also one of the most labor-intensive and rewarding. The tastes (sour, sweet, salty) are rivaled only by the texture (crunchy on the outside, chewy in the center). They are, perhaps, the tastiest things I've ever put in my mouth. Bonus: they prevent scurvy! 6 Tables butter, softened. 1/2 c lime sugar.

Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Grandpas are Nice*: Toasted Walnut Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies. Or what happens when you Google "oatmeal, butterscotch, walnut". I have a thing for old men: grumpy, dirty, or otherwise. Butterscotch reminds me of them and, more specifically, grandfathers. I've been lucky enough to have 4, though I've only known 3 (my paternal grandfather died when Dad was 17, but that's a story for another time). Toasted Walnut Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies.

Our munchkins: May 2015
http://carteraudrey.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 28, 2015. It's hard to believe that Sasha is 10 already! It's been so fun watching the kids grow up with her. She started her morning with snuggles. The kids always like celebrating Sasha's birthday. This year we got her a frosty paw. We put a candle in it so the kids could sing to her. We were going to put the frosty paw in her bowl but the kids wanted to hold it for her. They each took a turn holding it. Until it was all gone. Sunday, May 24, 2015. School bus, City bus. It was another goo...

Sunday, July 26, 2015. Muffins with Moms and the Zoo. May started out with Muffins with Moms at Carter and Audrey's school. I love getting the opportunity to go to school with the kids. The chicks in Carter's class hatched the day before. He was so excited to show them to me. They were so cute! Evelyn is obsessed with babies. She crammed 3 babies into the stroller. These 2 girls have a lot of fun together. They loved the giant ants. They were having so much fun they didn't want to leave.

Our munchkins: March 2015
http://carteraudrey.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Our Christmas Eve nights are getting later and later as the kids get older. They always try to stay awake to catch Santa in the act. We don't get everything out until they are sound asleep. Despite staying up late, they are always up early Christmas morning. It takes every ounce of self control for them to wait until we are up to start opening presents! This year they sent Evelyn in to wake us up. It's so much fun to watch their reactions as they open their presents. Her own Barb...

ButterSuite: Good Food: What does love taste like?
http://buttersuite.blogspot.com/2009/08/good-food-what-does-love-taste-like.html
Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Thursday, August 27, 2009. Good Food: What does love taste like? Here's the story, with Dave's permission:. The little girl cried and banged on the table. She knocked over some frosting and sprinkles and looked down. All of the cupcake decorations made the top of a cupcake look just like a sunflower. The little girl stopped crying and said, "That can't happen again." She hit the table and BAM! Look what I made for you! The story, and today's session, remind me of why I l...

Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Monday, January 25, 2010. Everything's Coming Up Cupcakes. Orange cupcakes with orange meringue buttercream. Moping the day I made these, the texture of the frosting and the flavor of the cake turned my frown upside down. 1 stick butter, softened. 2 vanilla beans, split and scraped (I also used ground vanilla). 1 T finely grated orange zest (I threw in extra). 3/4 c heavy cream. 1/4 c freshly squeezed orange juice. 1 T vanilla (I split this vanilla/almond extract). 1) Pl...

Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Friday, November 20, 2009. As the daylight wanes, so too does my residency at the domestic violence shelter. Over the last few months, many recipes and hypotheses have been tested. The results are as follows:. Parents and children benefit from time spent together, interacting with one another, creating cupcakes and memories to be shared. Kitchens/food help nourish the soul and the stomach.*#*. ButterSuite: April 2009
http://buttersuite.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Butter and Bodies: A Dairy Diary. Thursday, April 16, 2009. Easter was always one of Mom’s favorite holidays. When we were little she made us new (and matching) outfits. We were allowed to eat store-bought sweets. We got presents (our first-ever CD boombox—hooray! Because I am away from home and stricken with my own adolescent sense of humor, Penny and I are having a maple-glazed bone-in pork butt (ham) for dinner. It’s cheaper than other hams (yay! For this recipe, I followed closely Smitten Kitchen's (...
