IoT Developer Survey: What are developers doing with IoT? We have just published the results of the first IoT Developer Survey. There are some very interesting findings so I encourage you to check out the report. The raw data is also available [ xls. 1 Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc are key platforms for developers. 2 Security and Interoperability are key concerns. This is very consistent with other surveys and analysis for IoT. It is interesting to see how the concerns change between developers who have...

Case Study MQTT: Why Open Source and Open Standards Drives Adoption. For the last 3 years, we have been talking about why IoT needs open source and open standards to be successful. We are now seeing great examples of why this is so true and why open communities will lead IoT adoption. MQTT is a perfect case study. This past month Eclipse Paho and Eclipse Mosquitto released new version. A quick look at the Google Trends report for MQTT. This entry was posted on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at 10:26 pm and i...

IoT Developer Survey – What are developers doing with IoT? | Ian Skerrett

IoT Developer Survey – What are developers doing with IoT? For the last 3 years, we have been working to create an IoT open source community at Eclipse. Like most open source communities, our community members are developers and in this case who are building IoT solutions. One common question I get asked is ‘What are developers doing with IoT’. Unfortunately, my answer varies between ‘everything’ and ‘I don’t know’. Not a very helpful response. 8217; we have launched the IoT Developer Survey. Eclipse IoT...

Eclipse Foundation Staff
http://www.eclipse.org/org/foundation/staff.php
Skip to main content. The Eclipse Foundation is fortunate to have some very talented people working full-time on behalf of the Eclipse community. Below is the list of our staff. Eclipse email addresses all follow the firstname.lastname@eclipse.org convention. Outside of work, Mike's passions are his family, the family cottage and hockey (as a coach, player and fan) in pretty much that order. When he's not working, or traveling for work, you will probably find him involved in one of those three things.
Foundations Considered Useful | Life at Eclipse
https://mmilinkov.wordpress.com/2011/11/25/foundations-considered-useful
Musings on the Eclipse Foundation, the community and the ecosystem. Blogosphere and twittersphere are both abuzz this week as a result of Mikeal Rogers’ “ Apache Considered Harmful. 8221; post. I thought the article made a number of important points about how the software world is changing, and changing very rapidly. However, I think that follow-on articles such as “ Has open source outgrown the Apache Way. Disclaimer: I run an open source foundation, so obviously I have a vested interest in this debate.
Berlin Impressions | Life as Mike
https://hockeycoach.wordpress.com/2008/06/11/berlin-impressions
Hockey, Fishing, Family and Other Random Pastimes. June 11, 2008. At 4:08 am by Mike Milinkovich. And I are in Berlin this week for the OSGi Community Event. We haven’t had too much time for touring, but I did manage to take a couple of quick photos. I really like Berlin. It has a very nice, relaxed urban vibe. It’s a lot more colourful than Frankfurt. I would definitely like to come back and play tourist here some day. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Musings on the Eclipse Foundation, the community and the ecosystem. Archive for September 2013. JavaOne: The Eclipse Inside. I spent last week at JavaOne in San Francisco, and I thought I would share a few things about the event that might be of interest to the Eclipse community. But in some ways, this was the best JavaOne for Eclipse ever. In fact, there was Eclipse inside a couple of the most talked about projects at the show. Did you know that we (sort of) won our community’s first Duke Award. Develop...
The Eclipse Foundation’s 10th Birthday | Life at Eclipse
https://mmilinkov.wordpress.com/2014/02/03/the-eclipse-foundations-10th-birthday-2
Musings on the Eclipse Foundation, the community and the ecosystem. The Eclipse Foundation’s 10th Birthday. Today the Eclipse Foundation celebrates its 10th birthday. Boy, time flies when you’re having fun! It is very hard to put your mind back to an event in the past. I don’t mean simply remembering the event; that’s easy. What is hard is to recall what the environment was. Like at the time, without the context of all of the subsequent history. But if you look back at the original press release. Althoug...
April | 2013 | Life at Eclipse
https://mmilinkov.wordpress.com/2013/04
Musings on the Eclipse Foundation, the community and the ecosystem. Archive for April 2013. The EPL as a Platform License. Of the OpenDaylight project. Has gotten very wide coverage. It looks like a well-done announcement, and the industry support for this important new collaboration is stellar. Yet another great example of how open source is facilitating collaboration on new and innovative industry platforms. In my opinion, one important detail of the announcement has not received sufficient notice:.
When Open Source Foundation Makes Sense | AllThingsPlatforms

Thinking beyond virtual machines. When Open Source Foundation Makes Sense. August 21, 2013. Picture Source: Osuosl.org. On the other hand, if the open source platform has an open pluggable architecture, it is easy to build a conflict free community without resorting to an open source foundation. The core components are rarely touched and the extensibility is leveraged to meet the needs of the community stakeholders. A pretty good example to this approach is Gluster Forge. Community building is tough....

A blog devoted to promoting the Eclipse ecosystem. Friday, August 11, 2006. Registration is now open for Eclipse Summit Europe. Which will be held in early October near Stuttgart Germany. The track is looking fantastic and there are some very cool things that will be part of the program. First, is the use of the LAWST Symposium. Format for some of the tracks. Let’s rename Eclipse RCP | RCP Quickstart: Learn the Eclipse Rich Client Platform from the experts
https://rcpquickstart.wordpress.com/2009/05/26/lets-rename-eclipse-rcp
RCP Quickstart: Learn the Eclipse Rich Client Platform from the experts. Tips and training – OSGi and Eclipse RCP. Let’s rename Eclipse RCP. I love Eclipse RCP. I’ve devoted the last 6 years of my life to developing with RCP as well as teaching it to others. In my opinion it’s one of the most important (and underused) technologies for developing UI applications. Having said all that, the name is horrible and it’s time to change it. RCP is the user interface of OSGi. RCP is moving beyond rich clients.

Friday, March 9, 2018. PYRAMIDS AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS. It was starting to get hot. First impressions of the site were positive The Pyramids of the Sun and Moon really are massive. But it is a very open site, with little shade, and most areas where you might find shade were roped off. Am I geting a bit blase about sightseeing, or was this just a bit of fatigue creeping in? The best sketches from a Kenyan brain. Tuesday, February 2, 2010. All she wanted was love. All she ever asked for was someone to love,. As sadness echoed in her lonely heart,. As tears soaked her face. As diaries and diaries told her story. She knows how to love right,. A power she has had for many Februaries,. A raging fire even she cant put off. A skill she has never executed. All she asked for was love,. All she got was another Valentines,. With no one to love,. No one to kiss,. No one to hug,. You sh...
