Events, Reviews, Publishing. Outline by Rachel Cusk shortlisted for the #BaileysPrize 2015. Seven or eight years ago, Rachel Cusk talked in one of my creative writing lectures at Kingston University. I don’t remember much about the talk but I do remember her name and the impression she made on me. Cusk is a passionate and intelligent writer and her new novel. Is evidence that she is no ordinary storyteller. Has been shortlisted by the Baileys Prize for Fiction. This book is an interesting one to sink you...

The title translates to Hello Sadness and every word is titillatingly divine. A short story about a daughter, bohemian father and his mistresses on the French Riviera. All this has nothing to do with me. Books, Baguettes and Bedbugs. By Guy de Maupassant. The Elegance of the Hedgehog. It’s a beautiful dream-like frolic around 1920’s Paris. The only boo...

Through a Seattle Looking Glass. And what Ashley found there…. My ratings are as follows:. I didn’t like the book, wasn’t able to finish it or if I did finish it, the book just wasn’t for me. Doesn’t mean it’s not something I’d recommend but personally I am not a fan. I didn’t particular enjoy the book but felt that there were aspects that make it enjoyable for others. Through a Seattle Looking Glass. And what Ashley found there…. My 30 Day Book Challenge 2012. I love the idea of a book challenge. I’m setting two personal book challenges for 2013. I’ll be working through the challenges throughout the year. The lists will update with each review I write, and will not overlap! That’s 52 YA books that fit into a lot of categories! I’m allowing for books published any year (not just in 2013) to widen the net for the difficult letters. Want to join me? S – Slated by T...

A Misspent Childhood: Books I Wish I’d Read as a Child, and Well-Loved Books Worth Revisiting. August 31, 2014. The Night Life of the Gods. By Thorne Smith something he had read as a child and loved. His copy was well worn, proof of his affection for it 30 years earlier, and as any child might I idolised my father and took on his recommendation.
