The man went shopping for my valentine’s gift today. these are some of the things that were on my “helpful list for the man”… and called me 2 hours into it stating he couldnt find anything under $100. “thats right.” i said. “what i want cannot be found at the mall! Fathers day at the shelter, this place of refuge for women and children fleeing violence in the place that was supposed to be their home.what the hell do i have to give? Terrified to be here and know how helpless i am. This morning at church i was told that i need do nothing more than be present.that the light burning inside of me is bright enough to bring light to those around me. So often i feel so dark. right now though, i feel this light.

Exposed, vulnerable, bursting in imagination but shrivelling from neglect. Desperate, longing to feel the press of caring body upon longing body, no more bruises.
