Information about the parking areas by number and directions to get to each one:. Pond Brook Boat Ramp. Alberts Hill Rd. North. Alberts Hill Rd. South. The parking lot number refers to the numbers on the trail map. The Deep Brook segment runs from Commerce Rd. to the southern terminus of Al's Trail near Queen St. in Newtown. The last part of the trail is a beautiful and secluded walk through the forest next to the stream, that belies its location within a mile of the center of town. Pond Brook Boat Ramp.

Rocky Glen | Al's Trail

The Rocky Glen segment has some of the best views on Al's Trail, including the Pootatuck River scenic overlook and the steep cliff faces near the abandoned bridge on Black Bridge Rd. In 1750 prospectors attempted to extract gold and silver from an old gold mine. Effort continued into the 19th century but with no commercial success. The longest segment along Lake Lillinonah in the Upper Paugussett Stare Forest; contains several loops including the CFAP Blue-Blazed Lilinonah Trail. Wooded trail along Lake Zoar, with several loop trails. Black Bridge Road (connector). Wetlands trek with beavers! Great views in Sandy Hook. Dayton St. (connector). Short road walk in downtown Sandy Hook (thru hikers can get provisions here). Moderate walk along the Pootatuck.
