In the Pearl of Africa: April 2012
http://inthepearlofafrica.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
In the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, Development Aid, Microfinance, German Development Service, my Familiy and Me. Saturday, 7 April 2012. If you haven't been to Kidepo you haven't seen the best of African landscape and wildlife in Uganda! Daring statement but I' stand for it. We're leaving with a couple of friends and this is the first time my van needs to prove itself on approx. 1,500 km of rough roads! And even here, petrol stations exist. Or at least something like it ;-). Adrian tries to pick some of the...

In the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, Development Aid, Microfinance, German Development Service, my Familiy and Me. Friday, 25 May 2012. First song, Leona sang with me accompanying her on the piano, and I was certainly the one who was more challenged. Unfortunately the recording is interrupted even before it really starts :-/. But then comes a great quadruple performance by four amazing girls! But don't listen to me, check it out for yourself:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Web Images of Uganda.
In the Pearl of Africa: February 2012
http://inthepearlofafrica.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
In the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, Development Aid, Microfinance, German Development Service, my Familiy and Me. Wednesday, 22 February 2012. Book week @ Rainbow. Book week again. Kids read books, write books or stories, read stories to other kids, books are on display and the history of books and the written words fill the days of this week. Grand finale: dress up as your favourite book character - this year the overall topic was food. Well, and as for Adrian? Wednesday, 15 February 2012. Ich hoffe der Chi...
In the Pearl of Africa: Oliver!
http://inthepearlofafrica.blogspot.com/2012/06/oliver.html
In the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, Development Aid, Microfinance, German Development Service, my Familiy and Me. Saturday, 2 June 2012. Of course everyone knows Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. But did you also know that the novel was turned into a famous musical in 1960 and into a musical film in 1968? I didn't. and while I am learning a lot about Uganda and Africa here, I am learning just as much about the English and their funny ways ;-). Who introduces him to Fagin's gang of kid pickpockets. So, Oliver go...

All around Oracle: Mai 2007
http://oliverdba.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 30. Mai 2007. SQL Developer with migration workbench. Today i used the actual sql developer including the migration workbench plugin to convert data from sql server to Oracle. Setting up the needed repository and creating the tablescripts worked like a charm. The configuration steps to connect to a MS database is documented here:. Using the offline data transfer was no great help too, the unload script...

Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 17. Oktober 2007. Migration Workbench and Foreign Keys. I discovered a special feature when migrating a SQL Server 2005 database to Oracle using the newest migration workbench plugin for SQL Developer. The Foreign Key constraints were not captured at all. All around Oracle: Back again and fun with domain names
http://oliverdba.blogspot.com/2009/03/back-again-and-fun-with-domain-names.html
Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 18. März 2009. Back again and fun with domain names. This week i had some spare time to investigate why the dbconsole didn't want to start any longer on two windows servers. On the linux servers everything was running fine. I realized that the problem only occurred with patchset 10.2.0.4 but not before. The workaround is quite simple. And recreate the repository. Emca -config dbcontrol db.
All around Oracle: Gnome not installed?
http://oliverdba.blogspot.com/2009/04/gnome-not-installed.html
Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Donnerstag, 9. April 2009. In the last post i encountered problems with Xming, so i wanted to install gnome as a display manager to use it with vnc. TWM is a little bit spartanic. After installing the X11 packages with yum, i saw that several gnome-packages were installed on the machine. But a switchdesk gnome always brought the error: GNOME not installed. Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 22. August 2007. Connect to SQL Server 2005 from Data Integrator. The Oracle Data Integrator only contains a jdbc driver for MS SQL Server 2000. For succesfully connecting to SQL Server 2005 (of course only for reading ;-) ) you need the actual jdbc driver from MS. Unzip it and put the sqljdbc.jar file into the drivers subdirectory of ODI. The class changed from 2000 to 2005:. Oracle OWB 11g is out.
All around Oracle: OWB and Unicode
http://oliverdba.blogspot.com/2007/10/owb-and-unicode.html
Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Dienstag, 16. Oktober 2007. The actual Oracle Warehouse Builder has still some troubles with columns which are declared as varchar2(30 char). You can't choose between char and byte when creating tables inside OWB and when reengineering the table, the columns show up as varchar2(120)! When using unicode with french letters, beware that the characters with accents will need two bytes of storage. Some blogs i read.
All around Oracle: Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4 und public yum server
http://oliverdba.blogspot.com/2009/04/oracle-enterprise-linux-4-update-4-und.html
Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 8. April 2009. Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4 und public yum server. The public-yum server for Oracle Enterprise Linux is really useful. Even if you only have older Install DVDs. Using the following steps i could install a very basic linux system with all necessary packages for Oracle:. Install OEL 4 Update 4 with the option minimal. Create a new Repository file for yum. Cd /etc/yum.repos.d. Resizi...

Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Dienstag, 26. Juni 2007. I am playing around with the new Oracle BI SE One tutorial. The tutorial is really good and shows most parts of the system. But working through the BI Publisher part my troubles began. My main enhancement request for the BI Publisher is to have meaningfull messages, like with the other Oracle software (Reports, Discoverer and not to forget the database). BIP-xxx would be available. The n...

Thoughts about Oracle, especially Datawarehousing, the Application Server and the core RDBMS. Mittwoch, 4. Juli 2007. OC4J as a service. Tomorrow i will give the JavaService - utility a try. It allows you to run a java application as a windows service. Hopefully it will work with my BI Publisher oc4j. Here is the link toi the download page: http:/ www.multiplan.co.uk/software/javaservice/index.html. I will add my configuration steps when it is up and running. Mein Profil vollständig anzeigen.

In the Pearl of Africa
In the Pearl of Africa. Uganda, Development Aid, Microfinance, German Development Service, my Familiy and Me. Saturday, 28 June 2014. All's well that ends well. What started as a two year contract in 2008 finally came to an end almost six years later. And it wouldn't have been six years, had it not been full of fun, excitement and change. And in 2014, it was time for another big change: back to Germany. Major live changing events? Instantaneously, three things pop up in my mind. Saturday, 6 October 2012.

Recipe Box. In our family we associate family events with favorite foods and/or recipes. So, in addition to a handwritten recipe box (which sits in a place of honor in our kitchen), I'm going to share them here as well. Saturday, December 23, 2017. After sending out a request for who had it, Auntie Fannie sent me Grandma Bavetz' recipe. And then I misplaced it. So here it is. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt. 1 pkg dry yeast. 2 Cups shelled walnuts. 6 large graham crackers. 1 1/2 sticks Margarine. Terri's Beanie Wee...

Criticism in the Pejorative. Reviewing My World, For Your Sake. Monday, December 15, 2008. How to Enjoy the Out-of-Doors. Any sort of wilderness region means a great deal to me, and I concede that this is a very inclusive statement. A fondness of the books of Edward Abbey. Is a byproduct of this. It also may be a by-product of my fondness for a novel that is that's enjoyable to read, or as the Anheiser-Busch company might refer to it: his books have "Readability". And the second wave of blackface. For Cr...

In the bunch or attack off the front? Ride London -Surrey 100. Cycling Terms & Phrases. I had made the decision a few weeks back after a club email and after checking the diary, things matched up, so it was done, I was going to complete my first TT. That weekend I even did the course to see what it was like and to see what I would be letting myself in for, however this test ride was nothing compared to what I experienced but useful never the less. So did I enjoy my first TT! And tagged pushing yourself.
