Gluten-Free Food and Rants. Friday, July 13, 2012. Sweet and Sour Shrimp and Pork Balls with Napa cabbage sauté. I have made these shrimp and pork balls before, but I have struggled with what to serve with them. I thought about how well pork and cabbage go together (think sausage and sauerkraut) and was inspired to make a sauté with caramelized Napa cabbage and onions. I echoed the flavors in the meatballs in the sauté as well. I bought the fern root noodles. Their texture though made them fun to slurp!

GLUTEN FREE MILLET OATMEAL BREAD. 1 cup brown rice flour. 1/2 cup certified gluten free oat flour (you can pulverize oats in a food processor to make oat flour). 3/4 cup millet flour. 1/2 cup tapioca flour. 1/3 cup arrowroot starch or cornstarch. 1/3 cup sweet rice flour. 1/4 flax seed meal (you can’t taste it and it adds fiber). 1 Tablespoon psyllium husk powder (provides structure and elasticity). 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.

Thursday, August 2, 2012. When I moved to this area 11 years ago, my neighbor taught me how to make grape juice from the local wild grapes. We have an abundance of them draped through the trees. Although they are a favorite of the deer and the birds, there is more than enough to go around. Making grape juice isn't at all hard. The hardest part is climbing the ladder in the heat to collect the grapes. Once that is done, the rest is a piece of cake! To make homemade grape juice, follow these easy steps!

Sunday, June 21, 2015. As a rule, I am a very frugal (sometimes ridiculously so according to friends and family! That same trait carries over to my garden. If something comes up on its own, I either leave it or move it to a more suitable area. In order to do this, I've had to become aware of how plants look when they first emerge.
