I grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and moved to the United States in 2000 to attend Hawaiʻi Pacific University. Where I obtained my undergraduate degree (B.S., Oceanography). I completed a Master’s degree at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa. Where I studied microbial ecology of marine environments. In 2008, I moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
