Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: Colette Mint Truffle
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014/08/colette-mint-truffle.html
Saturday, 9 August 2014. Who doesn't love a mint truffle? This was a loooong project in the making. I originally planned to make this dress for my brothers wedding, LAST spring. Then I moved to Warwick, bought this gorgeous spearmint coloured chiffon for £7/m in Royal Fabrics, Leamington Spa, and then never made the dress until now. So, I lined this normally, but in hindsight I definitely should have underlined it. All the darts and seams are visible through the chiffon, and don't always sit directly...

Wednesday, 29 October 2014. Colette Hawthorn in Emerald. I have been a bad blogger. Sorry for the silence, it's been a busy couple of months with a new job, much much longer hours and a very tired Jodie. I do hope you'll forgive me, as I have many new things to share with you (I have found time to sew! Even though it's very much autumn now, I have a few summer makes to catch up on so let's start at the beginning. So yeah, here it is. Hawthorn no.2 coming soon! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: September 2014
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 7 September 2014. The very lovely Claire over at I Want To Be A Turtle. Has kindly nominated me for a Blog Hop. I don't know how long it's been going, though it would be interesting to find out! Very simply, it's a way of exploring blogger's reasons and methods for writing via four questions. Thanks Claire for thinking of me! Why do I write? I've al ways enjoyed writing as an outlet, but I decided to start a blog purely to join in! This tool was so valuable when I was starting out, and is still s...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: February 2014
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 8 February 2014. I have a new finished item, finally. I seem to have developed a terrible habit of starting a project with huge enthusiasm, getting to the last few steps and then abandoning it for several weeks. This is not good for productivity. Habit must be broken! But, here, finally, is a finished project! It's Jasmine by Colette Patterns. I'm very keen for the Anna dress after seeing so many lovely versions of them on the interweb! The blouse is cut on the bias (another first for me! In th...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: June 2014
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 25 June 2014. BOGOF: Colette Sorbetto and GBSB Box Pleat Skirt. This post is about when it doesn't quite go as well as you hoped. When I started sewing I expected to make things that sounded great in my head, but didn't work in real life, or just didn't turn out how I'd expected. I learnt a lot about fabric quite early on so this hasn't happened too much, but there are always exceptions. S I made earlier this year. It's a little thick, but it holds its shape well. I decided to make the sorbett...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: November 2013
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 14 November 2013. I will openly admit that I am a girl of very few colours. About 80% of my wardrobe is grey, black or navy, with a spot of red thrown in for good measure. I'm working on this! Not quite yet though, as here we have two new skirts, both Colette Zinnia. One navy polka dot (shocker! So, onto the pattern. I LOVE this skirt! Possibly my least favourite sewing task yet, perhaps more so than concealed zippers). So, here are just a few reasons why this skirt is awesome. 2 You don't have...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: July 2014
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 27 July 2014. By Hand London Anna - Purple maxi. I am so happy to share this dress with you, as I absolutely LOVE it! Which is so weird considering when I first saw the Anna dress I thought "It's cute, but it's not for me". How wrong was I? Eventually I started seeing pretty dresses and thinking "oooh what pattern is this. Anna? But I thought I'd decided I didn't like it". Fool. But I bought 4m for £8 (WIN! The zipper no longer reached the top, so what you see here is where the zipper tape litera...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: October 2013
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 22 October 2013. So I just have to share these photos because I'm very excited about this project! I bought the yarn, and cast on just 10 days ago and I'm really happy with the progress I've made already. Sadly the sewing has fallen to the side while I get more and more obsessed with this, but I consider it time well spent. The yarn is a beautifully soft alpaca / wool blend which is so soft and I imagine will be lovely and warm. And it only cost £1.70 a ball. Amazing! So, keen for a bit of chall...

Jodie's Adventures in Sewingland: November 2014
http://jodiesadventuresinsewingland.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 November 2014. I was going to post all my recent makes in order, but I just can't wait to share this make with you. As the weather got colder I knew I'd need a warmer coat than the lightweight mac I'd worn through spring. I have a winter coat but it's not a great fit (my back is too broad - ha! And it's black, which I've tried to limit from my wardrobe as much as I can. Guys, you all need to go and make a cape right now, and I'll tell you why:. It's easier than sewing a coat. Seriously, th...
