Janet's Crafty Creations

Monday, 6 October 2014. Just come back from a few days away at the West Manse Quilt Retreat i. N Cullen, Scotland www.quiltretreat.co.uk. What a fabulous place, their aim is to give you quality quilting time and it certainly lives up to that. The rooms were beautiful with lots of little added touches, the food was fabulous there was nothing I didn't like. Chris and Pete were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The first one was made using a jelly roll, basic grey for moda, sweet serenade.

Janet's Crafty Creations: 3D Christmas Tree

http://janetscraftycreations.blogspot.com/2013/11/3d-christmas-tree.html

Saturday, 30 November 2013. No posts for ages then two in one day! Last night I went to a workshop at BarjanB Crafts in Newbold Verdon www.barjanbcrafts.co.uk/. It was to create a canvas, it is the first time I have done one of these and I really enjoyed getting messy. Next step was to add a little text using rubber stamps and black ink. The tree was done using pages from an old dictionary torn in to small strips and then screwed into small pieces attaching them to the canvas with mod podge glue. I enjoy...

Janet's Crafty Creations: Amy's Quilt

http://janetscraftycreations.blogspot.com/2014/02/amys-quilt.html

Sunday, 2 February 2014. At long last I have finished Amy's quilt. It was started a few years ago at a workshop taken at Quorn Country Crafts in Loughborough. The quilt top when finished went into my UFO box for quite a while and it was only when she knew she'd been accepted in to University last August that she said "Mum do you think I could have my quilt for Uni". Binding on I finished sewing it at my quilting group last Thursday and must say I'm rather pleased. 3 February 2014 at 14:20. Lovely quilt J...

Janet's Crafty Creations: July 2013

http://janetscraftycreations.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Monday, 22 July 2013. Can't believe I've not posted anything since May, unfortunately I spent the majority of June in hospital with various complications following my 4th dose of Chemotherapy. However I feel so much better now and have even started back to work part time. Crafting juices have been flowing and have done the following layouts :-. These were started at Our Little Scrapbook group crop on 06.07.13 and completed at home. For all three layouts. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Stitch Awhile: "Seaside Rose"

http://stitchawhile2.blogspot.com/2014/05/seaside-rose.html

Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Each time I visit my collection of Seaside Rose. Fabrics for Moda by 3 Sisters I pick up this little block left over from a quilt made for a neighbour's daughter some years ago. Zara now lives in Portugal with her parents and I wonder sometimes whether she still has her quilt. You may recall my friend Ann's DIL still doesn't have a bag, so over a cold and rainy Bank Holiday I decided that Seaside Rose. Of Goose Chase Quilting. Sarah is author of the "Simply". Stitch Awhile: "Victoria's Garden"

http://stitchawhile2.blogspot.com/2014/07/victorias-garden.html

Wednesday, July 23, 2014. On a visit with friends from my sewing group to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in 2006 four of us purchased "Victoria's Garden", a kit from Petra Prins from the book by Marsha McCloskey and Sharon Evans Yenter entitled "Blended Quilts From in the Beginning". Although the fabrics are not all the originals from the pattern they are all lovely and came in a be-ribboned box. The finished quilt measures 76 1/2" x 88 1/2" - certainly one for the long-arm! Stitch Awhile: March 2014

http://stitchawhile2.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 30, 2014. AnnAKa - Pa Quiltelaup. Having had the pattern for AnnAKa's Pa Quiltelaup for sometime and following on from my Annas Sminkepung marathon I really wanted to have ago, but again, sadly, the instructions were in Norwegian. My friend Margaret of Solstitches and I decided to have a "bag-a-long" and, thanks to her, my bag is finally completed. Yes, yes I could have turned the bag inside out or photographed the pockets before making up the lining - next time? Sunday, March 23, 2014.

Stitch Awhile: Another year, another birthday for Ann

http://stitchawhile2.blogspot.com/2014/04/another-year-another-birthday-for-ann.html

Sunday, April 27, 2014. Another year, another birthday for Ann. Tree Peony versus Ann's Bag? I think you will agree the Tree Peony steals the show.easily damaged by rain and wind, but a joy to behold for the special moments they are in bloom. Until it's demise last December I was a member of Daisy Chain's Quarterly Craft Club and have a stack of padded envelopes containing various projects. Ann, my pink friend (remember the silk hearts last year? April 28, 2014 at 1:34 PM. Have a wonderful week FlowerLady.

Stitch Awhile: February 2014

http://stitchawhile2.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 23, 2014. Pouches I always had in mind creating one using "vintage" style fabrics with the addition of lace and beads - well here she is all ready and waiting for my friend's birthday. The base fabric is calico/muslin, to which I attached stamped fabrics purchased from the USA. My lovely swirly backing fabric shows a little of the quilting. Some planing was required here choosing seams to sandwich the fabrics together. The pretty coloured threads are Lecien Multi Work 322.

Sunday, April 27, 2014. Open wide Zippered Pouch. Feel sure you'll remember this fabric by French General for Moda "La Petite Odile" which I used for my Sewing Basket. And Sewing Accessories Kit. I sometimes take these with me to Group Meetings, but felt I needed something larger for storage of cutters, scissors, pins, pens and pencils etc and another for my current project's threads. Measures 14" x 8" and the smaller. One 10" x 6"and are taken from an online tutorial by Noodlehead. Certainly a bag full!
