A One Man Cut Flower Farm in Ypsilanti. The cut flower business ended in 2011 but I continue to post other items about gardening. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Starting Asclepias tuberosa From Seed. For years I had problems growing. This was a few years ago and I decided to read up and figure out what I was doing wrong. The germination problem partly stemmed from inconsistent directions. Some catalogs say to just plant the seed, no special directions. This is what I had tried before. Stokes Seeds. Which usua...

A One Man Cut Flower Farm in Ypsilanti. The cut flower business ended in 2011 but I continue to post other items about gardening. Sunday, January 9, 2011. Don't like handling inorganic fertilizers and pesticides. I'm on the board for Project Grow. Organic products are natural. Insecticides are based on plant products. Fertilizers are based on animal products like blood and manure. Some fertilizers are based on fossilized material like greensand. Inorganic fertilizers tend to say things li...Thinks local ...

Scotch, Smoke, Fire and Chocolate. Apr 22nd, 2009 at 6:33 PM. So, like many in my area, I have what we call a "deep freeze" in the basement. Mom and Dad bought it so long ago that I do not have a memory of it never being there. It still works like a champ! The problem is that some of the shelves are more than 12" from the next shelf. To me, this seemed like a waste of space. So I went hunting on line for things like "freezer shelf dividers" and such. No such luck. Morris County, NJ. Like I said. simp...

Good Scents Gardens: Hellebores as cut flowers
http://goodscentsgardens.blogspot.com/2014/04/hellebores-as-cut-flowers.html
A One Man Cut Flower Farm in Ypsilanti. The cut flower business ended in 2011 but I continue to post other items about gardening. Sunday, April 13, 2014. Hellebores as cut flowers. Hellebores are nice to have in the garden. Deer, rabbits and ground hogs don't eat them. They grow well in partial shade. The flowers persist for weeks (though the color becomes a bit duller). They are as early as daffodils but don't look like spring bulbs. The foliage is attractive and evergreen. Project Grow Community Gardens.

About Elle and Daily Grub. Laquo; Daily Grub Updates. July 25, 2010 by Elle Lien Lynch. I’ve been wanting to start these weekly posts for some time now as an accompaniment to the menu, the story behind them, where the inspiration came from, how I found or concocted recipes, what worked and what really didn’t work before I put chalk to board. Most direction comes in the way of what I. How much stress do I really want to put on my little toaster oven this week? Can I make a cobbler in there? I salivated...

About Elle and Daily Grub. March 9, 2010 by Elle Lien Lynch. It’s been a long time. By now, I’m hoping you’ve heard a mumble or two about Clean Plate’s new incarnation, Daily Grub. It’s been a labor of love. Converting this dark, dirty old bar into a shiny, bright, lunch/brunch spot has taken blood, sweat and lots and lots of tears. But after a winter spent in renovation-induced hibernation, I can proudly announce, it’s close! All quantities to taste). Avocado ripe and soft. Tomatillo or green tomato.
