mabuhay ang dance/blog!: My Dorian Gray painting is in my muscle tone
http://joellejacinto.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-dorian-gray-painting-is-in-my-muscle.html
Ramblings of a dancer who writes/ a writer who dances. Sunday, February 19, 2012. My Dorian Gray painting is in my muscle tone. As I walked off the dance floor, a spasm started to crawl across my back. I stretch it out: go away ouchie! I silently laugh at myself. Then, when we go back to the floor to repeat the exercise, I can't even port de bras. My reaction is I laugh more audibly and tell my dad/ballet teacher that I'm in pain. Obviously maintenance is key! But I have to remind myself that I am prone ...
mabuhay ang dance/blog!: My Top 11 for 2011
http://joellejacinto.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-top-11-for-2011.html
Ramblings of a dancer who writes/ a writer who dances. Saturday, December 31, 2011. My Top 11 for 2011. So, you could say this is a cop-out, but my justification for this list comes from Mahatma Gandhi's most famous line: Be the change you want to see in the world. These events affected me personally, but in a way that what I need to do on a bigger scale is much, much clearer now. 1 The Company of Dance Artists. 2 New York City Ballet in Hong Kong. 3 Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa. Early this year, m...

Ramblings of a dancer who writes/ a writer who dances. Thursday, August 12, 2010. Just came from watching Sayaw, Sabel at the CCP tonight. It is, in one word, phenomenal. There is so much to say, that I'm worried that it won't fit in a review. Will find a way to to be able to say more about it, adequately. Will also get back to you when I do, hehe. Two sides to every story. Shining Again →. Part of the Process. April 2, 2015. I was thinking of changing the music of my upcoming choreography for the UMa Dance Showcase, because it was so big and overwhelming and I didn’t know if I could challenge my dancers enough to embrace it. Song in question is the Infernal Dance of the King Kaschei from Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird. Yikes, right? Interestingly, though, while thinking of a “next step,” Sim, my dancer, said why was I so tense? But thank you, Bliebie,...

Author Archives: Joelle Jacinto. August 31, 2015. My body doesn’t like getting old. Or giving in to old age. Time to let the fat creep onto the bones and, oh horrors, stay? Time for my body to let age catch up? Time to be 41? Body says no. In the most painful way possible. So now, I’m thinking, maybe my body hasn’t given in to old age. Maybe it’s angry at me because I considered it. Okay, okay. Oh It’s a kiss. August 3, 2015. A photo posted by Diana Vishneva (@dianavishnevaofficial) on. Just realised tha...
