Josh's Jiu-Jitsu Journal: August 5th 2015 - Gi All Levels

http://joshjiujitsujournal.blogspot.com/2015/08/august-5th-2015-gi-all-levels.html

Wednesday, August 5, 2015. August 5th 2015 - Gi All Levels. Standing Headlock Defense Hammerlock to RNC, Elbow Escape from Mount, Armbar from Mount. Had a few visitors today to make for a good size class. Tom was one of those visitors with a couple stripes on his white belt. He told me later that he's been training on and off for quite a few years and even trained at LMAC before I got there. Mount Position (6 x 2 min), Free Rolling (2 x 4 min). Tom, Morgan, Tyler, Ross, Mike A. My successes and failures.

Josh's Jiu-Jitsu Journal: June 2015

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. June 30th 2015 - Gi Beginner. Koshi Guruma, Standing Guard Break, Torreando Pass. Ben, Robert, Shane. Small class today, people must be on vacation. I added a couple things to the warm-up like the sit out, the armbar from guard drill, and a side control pressure drill. The teaching portion was a blur. I imagined teaching stuff much better in my head but I pretty much got to the point and went over each technique a couple times. The couple things to note:. Ben, Shane, Robert. I hel...

http://joshjiujitsujournal.blogspot.com/2015/08/august-4th-2015-gi-beginner-my-way.html

Tuesday, August 4, 2015. August 4th 2015 - Gi Beginner (My Way). Standing Headlock Defense Hammerlock to RNC, Elbow Escape from Mount, Armbar from Mount. The elbow escape is not something that I use by itself. It will sometimes come up while trying to escape the mount but it's usually not something I'll get by just focusing on it. So don't worry too much if you find it not working for you off the shelf. Try to use it in conjunction with the upa escape. Mount Position (6 x 2 min), Free Rolling (2 x 4 min).

Josh's Jiu-Jitsu Journal: May 2015

http://joshjiujitsujournal.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. May 30th 2015 - Kids and Open Mat. Double Ankle Grab Sweep, Tripod Sweep, Close Guard Rolling, Flag Tag. I ended up being the assistant instructor today. We showed up a little early and the boys participated at the end of the younger kids class since there was only 1. They did some sumo and the girl that was there was kicking their butts. I was happy that they didn't get too upset about losing like they have in the past. Then we played some blob tag. Deep Half, Top. Head Lock Defens...

Josh's Jiu-Jitsu Journal: October 2014

http://joshjiujitsujournal.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 26, 2014. October 26th 2014 - Weekly Review. Koshi Guruma, Triangle with punch setup. I had some good teaching and rolling moments with Bhuvana, Harvey, Tim, Dave during the office hours portion after class. I really enjoy helping fellow students figure their game out or solve a recurring problem. Half Guard Clothesline and Twisting Sweep. Although Jerad whooped up on me, I felt like I've improved and had more answers to problems that he presents. The biggest thing was being more acti...

Did you miss me? We moved back to Idaho at the end of April and we love being back! I thought it was time to get everyone up to date on our little family! Let me start from the beginning and give a brief overview of the last 3 years! It was nice to be in a house. The town was not awesome but we loved the poeple there and we were 100 miles closer to my parents! We lived there for a year but the hours at this job were super crazy and he worked a lot of Sundays. So we live in Idaho now and we love it! It se...

Friday, September 29, 2017. Productive Mind Mapping for BJJ. How To Use A Mind Map To Shape Your BJJ. First it's necessary to understand what a Mind Map should consist of. A mindmap is not a web of every single technique and position you have ever seen, drilled, or even pulled off while rolling live. A mindmap is a distillation of your most common actions from your most common positions. Once you have the visual map created you will have something which vaguely resembles the picture below:. Well, We can ...
