Journey With Nathan

Thursday, September 19, 2013. Headed Down A New Road. It's been nearly 4 weeks since Nathan's scope, which by the way was not good. His EOS counts were high again indicating that the foods we were trialling (potato, chicken, rice) were hurting him. Mark and I have given tons of thought to our options and weighed all the pros and cons of each over these past 4 weeks. We aren't 100% comfortable with any of the options. Our two options are:. The lesser of two evils that's what we're going with. Nathan's die...

Journey With Nathan: October 2011

http://journeywithnathan.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 28, 2011. Alright, so in the world of EoE as we have always known, things can change and they can change quickly. We were blessed to have such a smooth couple of months in a row with Nathan. They all evaluated Nathan together and individually so that they could put their minds together on the best approach to help Nathan. Nathan working on his chewing exercises. We are headed to Mark's parent's church annual Trunk or Treat tonight, Nathan will be going as Mickey Mouse! Eosinophilic gastor...

Journey With Nathan: April 2012

http://journeywithnathan.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Eating Like There's No Tomorrow. Nathan's been on his antibiotic for 8 days now. All of a sudden like a switch was flipped Nathan's appetite returned last night and it has continued throughout today! That boy has had more applesauce, chicken, and green beans today than I can keep cooked up and ready to serve just about! It's so puzzling because these are the same foods that he would look at the past couple of weeks and flat out refuse to eat! Wednesday, April 4, 2012. But it is c...

Journey With Nathan: February 2012

http://journeywithnathan.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Just wanted to share the recipes I used to make Nathan's safe birthday cake and cookies this year! They're free of all the top 8 allergens and were pretty good! I might try switching up some of the "flours" in the future to see if I can make it even better! The sugar cookie recipe was a hit and everyone loved them! So thankful to have alternative options for baking for our sweet boy who deserves a yummy treat like these from time to time! Test cookie was a success! 4) Bake at ...

Tyler C with EE: Tyler's new look

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011/05/tylers-new-look.html

Tyler C with EE. Friday, May 20, 2011. Through the nose, over the ear, then taped to the back. Placement wasn't a fun thing for me. The nurse has done it for 19 years, only hit the airway once. "Chances of doing that are slim.". Mental note: Make sure the end port is closed when inserting. Here is to hoping he won't pull it out when he's in his crib. We had to do syringe feedings last night because the pump isn't getting delivered until this afternoon. So far so good. May 20, 2011 at 1:07 PM. Eosinophils...

Tyler C with EE: ? (for other EE moms)

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011/06/for-other-ee-moms.html

Tyler C with EE. Sunday, June 19, 2011. For other EE moms). The GI wanted to wait until after Tyler's 2nd scope and "personal baseline" before starting food(s) that had reactions on the patch test. The scope is done so we started apples last night. He ate some. By some I mean 2 tablespoons. We tried again this afternoon and he took a small bite then wasn't interested. He refused the apples by turning his head while also pushing the spoon away with his hand. June 20, 2011 at 10:50 AM. Maybe dumping some a...

Tyler C with EE: Patch Test Results

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011/04/patch-test-results.html

Tyler C with EE. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Tyler was happy today. Happy because these things. The nurse came in to take the patches off. We were disappointed because initially he had more of a rash/reaction to the darn tape than the foods. She removed the patches then outlined where the foods were and numbered them. The nurse said Tyler was/is her best patient because usually kids cry and wiggle during this. We have to watch these circle for 5 days, noting daily changes. Positive Foods (don't eat).

Tyler C with EE: May 2011

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Tyler C with EE. Friday, May 27, 2011. Quick Weight Check / Allergist Visit Update. Tyler had an allergist visit yesterday so I figured I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone and do a quick weight check at the GI's office since it's less than a mile from the allergist office. (The allergist doesn't have an infant scale and the plop-him-on-the-scale-with-clothes-and-a-diaper weight skews any progress.) The scale read 19 lbs 12.4 ounces, a 7.4 oz gain in one week. Wahoo! Tyler C with EE: March 2011

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tyler C with EE. Saturday, March 26, 2011. The History Part 1. Pregnancy with Tyler, not so fun. During the entire pregnancy I could not drink milk, eat any nuts, peanut butter, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, and any form of meat. Being that it was 100% different than my other pregnancies (all of which resulted in 4 boys), we fooled ourselves into thinking it was a girl. We fooled ourselves into thinking we were entirely prepared for whatever Baby TyTy threw at us because we were "experienced" parents. APPETITE...

Tyler C with EE: EGD 101 / Tyler's scopes

http://tylercwithee.blogspot.com/2011/08/egd-101-tylers-scopes.html

Tyler C with EE. Monday, August 22, 2011. EGD 101 / Tyler's scopes. Tyler's celiac serum panel came back abnormal so we were finally referred to a GI (gastroenterologist). The only official way to diagnose celiac is to have a positive intestinal biopsy, hence the need for a GI. After hearing good things about Dr. McOmber we set an appointment. We met with him at the end of Febrary, Tyler had his first EGD and FlexSig procedure the beginning of March. 1st scope, March '11. Dr M: "Well the good news is I'm...

Tyler C with EE. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Bad words, bad words} a 2 week wait. Bad words bad words bad words} seems to be commonplace in my mind lately. Here is a glimpse of the latest happenings. He hates soy. I spent time squeezing edamame out of the pods so they were ready to eat just in case he changed his mind. He hasn't. I cooked up some tofu stir fry drizzled with gluten free soy sauce. He hates tofu. Life is grand. :). Have eliminated his eosinophilic triggers and his appetite should. The nurse ...

Tyler C with EE. Sunday, June 12, 2011. Thursday is a Big Day. I am still working on a post with the details of Tyler's GI appointment last Tuesday but my brain isn't cooperating enough for me to get it posted tonight (from mental exhaustion or pregnancy brain, I'm not sure which). June 13, 2011 at 9:43 PM. Yes, I text! I look forward to hearing updates! I will text you with my cell number so you will have it! June 15, 2011 at 8:19 PM. Thanks for the most adorable video ever! NCS Is a Form of dysautonomia. Us spoonies have to stick together! I’m not sure what I will write about in my blog entries, some of it you may find relevant and some you may not, and that’s okay. If just one person reads this and feels a bit better then I will be so happy! I would just like to add That Neurally Mediated Hypotension and Neurocardiogenic Syncope, to the best of my knowledge, refer to the exact same illness. I hope today you have a happy day! Journey Without a Destination

Take chances. Abandon all the rules. Ditch the recipe. Color outside the lines. Monday, October 31, 2016. I have lived my life mostly unaware what trouble hating myself has caused me. As I began my self-hate recovery journey a little over a year ago I saw chains break inside me that I had no idea where held captive. Not long ago my cousin Catherine. So, when she asked me if I wanted to preview her poetry chapbook with the same title and write a review of it I was super excited to say yes! Life itself can...
