Making Black and Bloom all Over – Judy Coates Perez • Creative Alchemist
http://www.judycoatesperez.com/making-black-and-bloom-all-over
Judy Coates Perez Creative Alchemist. Making Black and Bloom all Over. I love getting really focused and tightly rendering a representational image. While painting, but recently I have been trying to get looser and more gestural with my painting, kind of like the direction I take with some of my mixed media work. But pushing it even further. For my latest quilt, which represents my present emotional state of mind, I tried to work more spontaneously without pre-planned imagery. I also used some of my hand...
DIY Pressing Board: portable ironing boards or padded printing boards for thermofax – Judy Coates Perez • Creative Alchemist
http://www.judycoatesperez.com/pressing-matters-ironing-board-not-big-enough
Judy Coates Perez Creative Alchemist. DIY Pressing Board: portable ironing boards or padded printing boards for thermofax. Over the last couple weeks, I’ve been gathering supplies and preparing fabric for my upcoming classes. For my Tea and Ephemera class I make faux tea stained fabric for my students to use as a base for their collage and mixed media techniques. I went to Home Depot and walked down the sheetrock and plywood aisle in search of homasote. I bought 2 pieces and decided to cover one with can...

Judy Coates Perez Creative Alchemist. Discovering the hidden perks of a truckload of dung. Discovering the Hidden Perks of a Truckload of Dung. I was very excited to learn my quilt ‘8 of Cups’ won a blue ribbon for Best Use of Color at Pacific International Quilt Festival. While I was at Arrowmont! Believe it or not, ‘Discovering the Hidden Perks of a Truckload of Dung’ is the title of the quilt I just sent off to PIQF. For the show on October 16th -19th. 8217; You can read the story here. I planted lots...
Time to start making felted wool ornaments! – Judy Coates Perez • Creative Alchemist
http://www.judycoatesperez.com/time-to-start-making-felted-wool-ornaments
Judy Coates Perez Creative Alchemist. Time to start making felted wool ornaments! How did the year go by so fast that the holidays are already upon us? Well, I know for me, this time of year always gets me in the mood for making things. Whether it’s baking. Stitching or simply cutting snowflakes, so I thought it would be a good time to repost my tutorial for making felted wool ornaments. If you have never stitched a felt wool ball before, you’re in for a treat. These are a lot of fun to make. Spread the ...
Faced Binding tutorial – Judy Coates Perez • Creative Alchemist
http://www.judycoatesperez.com/how-to-make-a-faced-binding
Judy Coates Perez Creative Alchemist. So, when I make large art quilts, I like to make faced bindings, which creates a very clean finish to the front of a quilt (and you can never get a critical comment from a judge that your binding is not evenly filled either, lol). The first thing you need to do is cut a four inch wide strip of fabric for each side of the quilt that is about 4″ longer than each side. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and press. Finger press the second binding at a 45 angle. Trim the ...

Cindy's Threads: One down 2 to go
http://cindysthreads.blogspot.com/2010/04/one-down-2-to-go.html
03 April, 2010. One down 2 to go. Because of the fiddle factor, I like to work on the heels when I'm sitting at home. The problem is that I usually have tons of other things to do at home so I rarely sit and knit. So, I have brought to Hong Kong with me 3 half finished pairs of socks. I finally finished the first pair. Yeah! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. A Friend to Knit With. The Knitting Guild Association. Quilting and Mixed Media. Cindy's Threads
http://cindysthreads.blogspot.com/2013/01/photos-of-work-i-have-done-in-2012.html
10 January, 2013. Photos of work I have done in 2012. GReat work so far! That hat could even be a circle project! I completely agree with free motion circles. Sounds so easy but trying to maintain a circle and keep the stitching somewhat even is VERY hard. Great idea to post a montage of all your work this year. Will post something to my blog sometime later this week. Monday, January 14, 2013. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. A Friend to Knit With. Quilting and Mixed Media.

http://cindysthreads.blogspot.com/2013/05/i-finished-cape-from-craft-sy.html
05 May, 2013. I finished the cape from the Craft. Entrelac class. I used the yarn that the pattern was written for: Twisted Fiber Art - Queen Evolution. It is a beautiful yarn to work with and I would highly recommend it! It was like knitting with butter! But if you are making this. I love working with entrelac and have already designed a couple of projects I'm working on. I also absolutely LOVE! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Cindy's Threads: A Year A Day
http://cindysthreads.blogspot.com/2010/02/year-day.html
07 February, 2010. A Year A Day. I may not be real good about getting a blog post every day but I have been good about posting to my flickr account a photo a day for 2010. Check out my pictures here. I will try to start posting them here as well. Here is the latest picture that I had posted. I'm at Port Macquarie NSW at the moment and the pelicans are here! This is just one of the many photos that I took. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. A Friend to Knit With. A Year A Day.

Older Work - Quilts. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Playing with a mask. I made a mask of a little boy and I started to play with it on the Gelli plate with Speedball screen printing inks. Oh that last one is a keeper! Thursday, November 29, 2012. These are great. I need to get my gelli plate out. Playing with a mask.
hilda's hideout: Finally warming up...
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2015/05/finally-warming-up.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. I haven't complained about the cooler spring. Putting off the heat of summer is fine with me. The best flowers are those planted by nature, and this year the primroses are loving the cooler weather and rain. My good friend, Rosie, reminded me of the name of this delicate little flower (weed).scarlet guara. It's also having a good year. There is nothing more entertaining than watching kitties play. Now back to laundry and quilting! Friday, May 29, 2015. Of birds and apricots.
hilda's hideout: December 2014
http://hildashideout.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 22, 2014. With Dale's help I was able to finish the fobots I had started way back when. I had parked the pieces parts on a tray in the garage- the man cave, and he had put them up in the rafters. I remembered them, and yesterday afternoon we got them finished. I also finished our advent calendar. I decided we'll just keep decorating the little tree until it's done, a little charm or milagro a day and that way we'll get to enjoy it for a while. Better late than never! Eve of the Solstice.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Orphan blocks, of course. Crystal. Put out a call for orphan blocks on her blog. In looking for some to send her, I decided to put together a quilt from some of the orphans I've gotten. I'm not much of a piecer, but I had some blocks to send her along with more fabric squares that I had used to make the blocks. I believe they were Liberty of London fabrics that just didn't inspire me. Now back to cooking. Pat. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. I've been busy quilting...
Carol Sloan Studios: Drawing From Nature
http://carolbsloan.blogspot.com/2015/05/drawing-from-nature.html
Sketchbook and/or Visual Journal Pages. Monday, May 4, 2015. I turned my attention to items that were close at hand, and favorites of mine - sticks and flowers. Tulip Poplar flower, Oak twig end,. Eastern Red Cedar branchlet (top left). Female eastern Red Cedar. Female eastern cedar with berries (technically cones with fleshy scales). I liked the tulip poplar flower so I pulled it into Illustrator and tried a few color combos. I am a complete newbie to digital painting or coloring. 05 May, 2015 07:56.

Judy Cobbe
Self taught, having picked up a paintbrush quite by a chance a few years ago, and realising she had both a passion and an affinity to painting, Judy Cobbe is now a full time artist working from her studio in Wicklow. All of her work is of flowers painted in acrylic on canvass. They bring to life and suspend in time the image of a flowers, or group of flowers in their purest and most beautiful form, exaggerated and enlarged to gain full effect.
