katie loves haiti: June 2014
http://katieloveshaiti.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 2, 2014. For those of you that have been following my blog since 2010, you may remember two special little girls, Frances and Francesca. They were born in Jubilee and their mama died during labor. At that time, I was living in Port-au-Prince and volunteering at Faith Hope Love Infant Rescue. The twins were brought to us in Port when they were only three weeks old and weighing 3 or 4 pounds. Francesca needed a feeding tube and was hypothermic. They will be four years old in October!
katie loves haiti: Smelly Feet
http://katieloveshaiti.blogspot.com/2015/02/smelly-feet.html
Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Last year, I had a student named David in my class. He was and continues to be the class clown, often disrupting lessons with his antics. For example, one day when he noticed a preschooler getting attention because he had peed his pants, David announced to all his friends: look I'm going to pee myself too.and he did! There is no limit to what this boy will do to get a laugh. My feet smell terrible! They smell all day long! I wrote a song about it: wow! So, I grabbed a paper a...

Thursday, December 25, 2014. With mere human perspective, I could say you were taken far too soon. You were not honored by man in your lifetime, and you will be remembered by few. But tonight, I reflect and in my moment of sadness I find comfort because I know:. Friday, December 12, 2014. katie loves haiti: April 2014

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Later that afternoon, we were having an after school program. I was busy in one of the classrooms, but my kids ran up to Lala, our director. They were very excited and proudly handed her their very full plastic bags and exclaimed, "We got this for you! Unknowingly, she opened up the bags only to find them filled with cow poo. Needless to say, she was VERY confused. Monday, April 21, 2014. Creative Writing: If you lived on the moon, what would you do? Monday, April 14, 2014.

How a little bit of faith can go a long, long way. What I’ve Been Up To. If at first you don’t succeed. →. Raquo; Faith and Haiti. April 6, 2013. By Phil & Angela. What do you get when you combine a new sink installation, the cheapest and most ineffective silicone on earth, very strict instructions not to touch the newly installed sink, and a constant bombard of children and teachers who keep touching the sink? Well as most of you know, we left for Haiti about 3 weeks ago now. It feels so good to be here and be getting back into the swing of things. It was really hard to leave our friends and family this time, but as soon as we landed in Haiti we were reminded that we are in the right place and God has a plan for us here. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Compassion's Cry: Blind Spots
http://www.compassionscryblog.com/2011/09/blind-spots.html
I used to drive a granny car. Yep. It was most definitely a boat. It stuck out of the dorm parking spaces like a massive stream liner sandwiched between sailboats. Now, before you label me as ungrateful keep in mind that I was. Yeah, those boat-like curves weren't so great for that. Well, in the past year I've had a similar kind of revelation. I have had a huge and blaring blind spot in my life. What is it? Well, I cannot stand by with idle hands any longer. I have to. So I challenge you to read God's Wo...

It has truly been a blur- a relaxing, exciting, adventurous blur full of family, friends, nature, (and work of course! I suppose its only fair to keep you updated on what we did while we were back (and to subtly show our American friends how awesome and beautiful Canada is). We went fishing at Angela’s parents farm-. The most amazing thing that we were reminded of is how powerful and faithful God is when His people call out to Him. When we return our focus and efforts will be similar to the aspirations we had when we went originally with a few added programs. The decision to return to Haiti is not something that we are taking lightly and we know th...

Recipes and foodie discoveries. Posted in CAKES AND SWEET TREATS. This Caramelised Apple Cake is my second favourite cake. I have made it a few times now, so I am confident that it is delicious, moist and hard to get wrong! To get the caramelised effect you sprinkle sugar on the bottom of a cake tin, top with sliced apples and then the cake mixture. It’s a lovely touch and looks super pretty. We all love it! Katie & James: hello!
Big bear lake, ca. James and I have decided on a destination wedding in our hometown of Big Bear Lake, California. We went back and forth on when and where to have our wedding, but ultimately decided that smaller and more intimate in a meaningful location was the better choice. As we ventured into wedding planning, the guest list kept growing, as did the cost!

Sunday, June 5, 2011. Stratford Upon Avon a.k.a "The Epic Roadtrip". We went to Hall's Croft next. John Hall married Shakespeare's daughter Susana, he was a doctor and evidently a super good one for the day. His meticulous medical notes are the reason we know so much about medical practices of the day. After the show we all wanted to talk more about it so we walked down to the river Avon and sat on the dock looking at all the twinkle lights on the water and talked. To be perfectly blunt it was a trul...
