Keeping the Garden in the Garden State: Promise of Spring
http://keepingthegardeninthegardenstate.blogspot.com/2013/02/promise-of-spring.html
Keeping the Garden in the Garden State. One backyard garden at a time. Friday, February 1, 2013. This little pot of bulbs.I can almost convince myself it will be warm again soon. Seed catalogs are stacked next to my chair in the living room and I make lists and try to imagine. Ground hogs, bunnies and various other "neighbors" have been pilfering what does grow in the meager sunshine. But last season I did manage to finally get a luffa to grow. I will post pics soon.I am so behind. Chief Seattle, 1854.

Keeping the Garden in the Garden State: The cherries are coming
http://keepingthegardeninthegardenstate.blogspot.com/2012/06/cherries-are-coming.html
Keeping the Garden in the Garden State. One backyard garden at a time. Monday, June 4, 2012. The cherries are coming. See the big tree in the middle? My Princess is right under it. Need to look closer? Can you see them? Not all of them are red yet, but the ones that are. They are so delicious too.if you can reach them. If the birds and squirrels get to them before we do, well, we'll just hope we get some plums first. ;-). But neither of us can ever. June 7, 2012 at 1:40 PM. Black eyed susans kitchen.
Keeping the Garden in the Garden State: July 2013
http://keepingthegardeninthegardenstate.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Keeping the Garden in the Garden State. One backyard garden at a time. Monday, July 8, 2013. A Little Help Goes a Long Way. We harvested our first tomatoes today. An heirloom golden cherry. My Great Niece, age 2, came over to help. She was not crazy about the plants brushing up against her legs as we walked the paths, but when I told her this is where we get our food, she smiled and said, "I like food.". She did like touching the lemon verbena. The Garden State, or whatever state you live in. I am an org...

Keeping the Garden in the Garden State. One backyard garden at a time. Friday, June 14, 2013. I thought I would post a few pictures of what we've got growing right here, right now. AGROPOLIS NOW Zone 6 Community Garden. Vegetable gardening in a small community garden plot in New Brunswick NJ, in zone 6. Sunday, June 22, 2008. To my fellow community gardeners- my plot is overflowing with lettuce! Maybe it's just because I attended my first farmer's market of the summer, but I feel like enough crops are coming in now to finally start cooking with them. New this week in my garden were carrots, young onions, and young garlic. I had already removed the kale and collard greens. I'm a New...

AGROPOLIS NOW Zone 6 Community Garden. Vegetable gardening in a small community garden plot in New Brunswick NJ, in zone 6. Saturday, January 10, 2009. Saying goodbye to the Garden State. I had to say goodbye to my garden in August to move away for a new job! Luckily, my next door neighbors said they would care for the plot until the end of the season (all that produce I couldn't harvest myself), and even if I couldn't be there, I know the crops were well loved in my absence. AGROPOLIS NOW Zone 6 Community Garden. Vegetable gardening in a small community garden plot in New Brunswick NJ, in zone 6. Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Thinking of next year's garden (wherever it may be):. I would plant my onions and garlic with closer spacing. I would interplant lettuce with a taller vegetable, to shade it from the summer sun and prevent bolting. I would plant less early-spring lettuce and more early-spring spinach. The lettuce. I would lean them on stakes. Good luck. I'm a New Englander,...

Big City Small Town: "I'd Like to Build a Little Home for You"
http://bigisbigsmallissmall.blogspot.com/2009/12/id-like-to-build-little-home-for-you.html
Big City Small Town. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. I'd Like to Build a Little Home for You". A common theme in tin-pan alley songs of the early 20th century was domesticity. I can't find any information about this song except the sheet music I purchased at a flea market. Music by W. Raymond Walker. Lyrics by Ballard McDonald. He's been calling regularly ev'ry single night. Sitting in the parlor with his arms around her tight. She'd been waiting patiently for him to ask the question. What am I going to do?

Big City Small Town. Saturday, January 10, 2009. Composting and Recycling Mass Products. My first 5k race- the Hot Chocolate Run in Northampton, Massachusetts. I read in Treehugger. Today that Coke has "developed" a compostable paper cup. Why, in a place like McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, that makes its own consistent profile of trash, can't they make sure the trash is compostable or recyclable and collect it out?
