Friday, June 19, 2015. Twenty Five Years Gone - Startups in 1990 and 2015. Well, it's been an interesting few months. I've been gearing up to my first major business launch for a while, a mere 25 years since I started my first company. Since graduating in Radio, Film and Television I had been a runner, a special effects film editor, a cameraman, a financial PR exec and a marketing exec in five short years. It was clear that I wasn't very good at working for other people. It is far easier for anyone to fi...

Monday, March 30, 2015. The Television Of Politics. So, here we go, here we go, here we go. The UK airwaves are relatively full of politicians. Milliband, the Labour leader, who looks and sounds dreadful on TV seems to be doing well, whilst the ultra smooth Cameron seems to be running scared from the cameras, and the plethora of minority parties are changing the face of the dual system which has largely ruled British politics for centuries. Friday, March 27, 2015. Major Changes Ahead For European Media.

IP TV Times: April 2015
http://www.iptvtimes.net/2015_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Around 1996, when I was running a mutlimedia company distributing video on CDI and CD-ROM the internet came along and by 1997 I was doing webcasts for the likes of Shell and Orange, and by 1998 for MTV. I was convinced that the future of TV was over the internet. After all, delivery of content was a nightmare. You produced for broadcast on a small number of channels, or release on VHS or then DVD. It was a tough business. That was not what I saw back in the day. Instead, deliveri...

IP TV Times: Telco and Media Are Miles Apart
http://www.iptvtimes.net/2015/06/telco-and-media-are-miles-apart.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. Telco and Media Are Miles Apart. Well that was an interesting visit to the LTE World Forum in Amsterdam. It's been a while since I've interfaced withe the mobile industry and what I encountered was worrying. What is even more concerning was the chasm that still seems to exist between the telco and media worlds, considering the size of some of the cross industry deals going on at the moment. Friday, May 29, 2015. Hail Blatter, King Of All You Football Fans! If you want any idea of how football has totally corrupted the world we live in, don't visit Switzerland and delve into the myre that is FIFA. Don't even bother worrying about the million pound a week salaries at the top if the game. No, turn to a club that was set up to challenge the status quo. Turn to United FC of Manchester, set up by disenchanted Manchester Utd fans when their clubs were taken over in an LBO by an American family.

IP TV Times: BBC Suffers A Death Of A Thousand Cuts
http://www.iptvtimes.net/2015/07/bbc-suffers-death-of-thousand-cuts.html
Monday, July 06, 2015. BBC Suffers A Death Of A Thousand Cuts. The BBC is probably the most admired broadcasting organisation in the world. When your budget is equivalent to that of all your main commercial rivals and paid for by a Royal Charter based on minimal accountability, perhaps you can understand how this unique institution evolved. The world's biggest aspidistra (look it up) exists to inform, educate and entertain, a mandate it has had for nearly a century now. Meanwhile, the Conservative Party ...

IP protection in the Digital Age: December 2016
https://klipcorp.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html
Updates on digital IP protection and cyber safety from KLipcorp IP. Thursday, 8 December 2016. New UK Information Commissioner shows her teeth issuing fines for wealth screening to RSPCA and BHF. What on earth has been going on at the RSPCA? Assumed to be a quiet backwater for helping out animals in distress it became a vehicle for what looked like politically motivated criminal cases. A new attitude at the ICO should send a warning shot across the bows of both government and big business who have been h...

Updates on digital IP protection and cyber safety from KLipcorp IP. Thursday, 26 May 2016. CERT-UK identify massive increase in new releases of ransomware in last 8 months. Between January 2012 and October 2015 there were 33 new releases of ransomware. In the last 8 month this figure has jumped to 70 showing the rapid rise of pre-packaged off the shelf tools for hackers. The only realistic defence against this is regular offline backups of material to a secure location. Ip protection in the digital age.

IP protection in the Digital Age: January 2017
https://klipcorp.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Updates on digital IP protection and cyber safety from KLipcorp IP. Thursday, 19 January 2017. The limits of consent to the use of personal data. When does yes really mean yes? That is a very broad subject but it becomes very specific in the context of data protection. In the case of the RSPCA (until recently taking some very aggressive positions in respect of private prosecution) they were collecting personal data from donors who were presented with the following notice;. It seems that the RSPCA then de...
