Guide to fiber events in the US, part four | knitprints
https://knitprints.wordpress.com/2013/11/03/guide-to-fiber-events-part-four
Guide to fiber events in the US, part four. November 3, 2013. While fiber festivals are a lot of fun, there’s other great things to do and see if you’re interested in wool and how it is transformed from fleece to fiber. Here in part four. Of the guide to fiber events I cover yarn crawls. And visiting fiber mills. Yarn crawls are the fiber events with which I suspect most knitters are familiar, if only because they seem to happen in almost any region where there are at least three yarn shops. Clean, may o...

The incomplete but hopefully useful guide to fiber events in the US, part one. October 27, 2013. Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky enough to attend more than my fair share of fiber events, from small local shows to huge national fairs, from dyer open houses to two cities’ yarn crawls. My stash has grown considerably despite my coldsheeping efforts (really, who was I kidding attending all these events? That I have attended). Here in part one. And New York Sheep and Wool (NYSW). Crochet “Kiffer” cover | knitprints

June 28, 2010 1 Comment. My cats shed a lot, and they are also terrified of the vacuum cleaner. Since I don’t like floating tumbleweeds of cat fur, I’ve been relying even more on my duster-that-rhymes-with-Kiffer. Even though I’d been using the store brand disposable covers, the cost was adding up quickly. Lily The Original Sugar ‘n Cream 4-ply worsted weight 100% cotton 2 ounces/56.7 grams 95 yards/86 meters per skein. Size H/8 or to match gauge. 9 rows and 8 single crochet = 2 inches. Deep sea swamp thing. February 24, 2014. My WIP pile is getting out of control (well, more than usual), so I finally got around to tackling it, by adding fringe to a woven scarf. (Never mind the four WIP quilts and six WIP cardigans and jumpers…). Here’s Deep Sea:. I also particularly liked the reds so eventually I hope to get a skein or two of those colors for a similar scarf. This one was woven on my Cricket loom with a 12 dent reed, using the teal as the warp and the forest green as the weft as I was ...
A tree skirt | knitprints
https://knitprints.wordpress.com/2013/12/23/a-tree-skirt
December 23, 2013. I finished something before it was needed! It’s a hexagonal quilted patchwork tree skirt for Christmas. We’ve never actually used a tree skirt before, we always used a gracefully wadded-up white sheet swathed around the base of the tree. It kind of looks like snow, especially when covered in presents. This year, and from now on, we have a dedicated object for our presents to hang out on, which makes me feel very happy in the Martha Stewart portion of my brain. Sewing non-90 degree angl...

This Yarn Life: A Knitter's Poem
http://thisyarnlife.blogspot.com/2011/12/knitters-poem.html
My life and adventures in yarn and many other things. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. I hadn't seen this poem by Nancy Massaroni before but it made me laugh heartily. A Knitter’s Night before Christmas. 8216;Twas the night before Christmas and all around me. Was unfinished knitting not under the tree. The stockings weren’t hung by the chimney with care. 8216;cause the heels and toes had not a stitch there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds,. But I had not finished the caps for their heads.

Starting Over……Or Picking Up Where I Left Off | My Knitting Circle

Starting OverOr Picking Up Where I Left Off. Starting over. It can be a good thing or something not so good. Starting over and ridding oneself of all the extra stuff that is accumulated over time can be cleansing and liberating. It is the time to refocusto reprioritizeto figure out what is important and what can be given away. What once seemed precious is now discarded. And the materials for those projects that were going to be worked on “some day? I knitted last winter for my daughter! A terrible day in...

This Yarn Life: November 2011
http://thisyarnlife.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
My life and adventures in yarn and many other things. Saturday, November 12, 2011. I mentioned to my friend M recently that I felt I was knitting faster. Last year when I made my Fiddlehead Mittens. It took me a long time. Almost two weeks to knit the first mitten. It was my second fair isle pattern. This year I'm making them again and its taking me less time. I'm almost able to complete half a mitten in a single two and a half hour sitting. The reason for this change? Sunday, November 6, 2011.
This Yarn Life: A Very Stashy Christmas
http://thisyarnlife.blogspot.com/2011/11/very-stashy-christmas.html
My life and adventures in yarn and many other things. Sunday, November 6, 2011. A Very Stashy Christmas. This year I decided to have a Very Stashy Christmas. Instead of buying gifts, I would make my family something from my stash. (I did have to buy an entire project's worth of yarn for one person. But only one person! Without further ado, the photos:. Would you like to see. Can you match the yarn to the project? November 10, 2011 at 7:04 PM. I wont guess because that is cheating! Scenes from My Office.

This Yarn Life: Why Knit?
http://thisyarnlife.blogspot.com/2011/10/why-knit.html
My life and adventures in yarn and many other things. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. The night before Rhinebeck, one of my knit buds posed a question. "When did you learn to" she said "knit? I learned when I was nineteen, almost twenty, years old. It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore years at college. I was lost. I was lost emotionally, spiritually and mentally. I had no idea who or what I wanted to be in life. I felt paralyzed. Why do I knit? Because knitting doesn't care if I'm perfect....

Nit · P. Rincess · S. Confessions of the Worlds Laziest Knitter. Hypocrisy is At An End. Okay, not really. I'm still being too hard on myself for sucking at spinning, but I'm trying to relax and accept that my spinning is not perfect. Late last week, I got over the freak out concerning plying and how badly I would screw that up and just Got On With It. And I made something that quite looks like yarn:. Anyway, here's some close ups of the yarn:. I think I'm going to go knit now. So, I've been teaching an ...
