Wo meine Rösen blüh'n: Spanish Riding School
http://wheremyrosesbloom.blogspot.com/2012/06/spanish-riding-school.html
Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Saturday, June 30, 2012. One of the great tourist destinations in Vienna I wanted to take my family to was the Spanische Hofreitschule,. Or Spanish Riding school. Mom likes horses, and these are one-of-a-kind, pretty stinking cool horses. Tickets for a show are ridiculously expensive (on their website. You can check price listings) but tickets to their morning exercises are relatively cheap by comparison. Six original foundation stallions were bred in the 18th...

Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Friday, January 27, 2012. Famous Austrians IX: Falco. Seriously, this man was a genius, and (after Mozart) probably the most famous Austrian musician. Here is a sample of his music:. Falco, born Johann Hölzel in Vienna in 1957, was a 1980's pop/rock icon, and is most noted in the USA for his 1985 hit "Rock Me Amadeus". Falco died tragically young in a car crash in the Dominican Republic in 1998. And very. Thursday, January 12, 2012. What's in a Dream? Of cours...

Wo meine Rösen blüh'n: KUNSTHALLE: Parallelwelt Zirkus
http://wheremyrosesbloom.blogspot.com/2012/06/kunsthalle-parallelwelt-zirkus.html
Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Thursday, June 21, 2012. One of the museums I went to see with my family was the KUNSTHALLE, a contemporary art museum in the Museumsquartier. Very near to where I live. The KUNSTHALLE (simply named: it translates literally as "art hall" or "art gallery") is a perennial favorite of mine, since it's so fresh and kooky - you never know what you'll get - from feminist pop art to Salvador Dali! Not that I don't appreciate the pomp of the Kunsthistorisches Museum.

Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Friday, August 31, 2012. Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. I've been home for two months now, and this distance from Vienna has made me consider many things about the past two years. What have I learned in Austria? 1 Things on one side of the world are often very similar to things on the other, except for the expected linguistic difference. 2 Germany German and Austrian German are not. 3 A big city is not a small town. 6 I should probably keep both a blog and. 15 Eve...

http://wheremyrosesbloom.blogspot.com/2012/08/mach-ma-party.html
Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Sunday, August 26, 2012. Sowe decided to have a party when I got back to the States to celebrate all the Austrian thing I experienced for the past two years. Chocolates - received as "going away" present. Yeah, I've been back since June. It's been interesting being back, since most everything is the same as how I left it. Weirdest was when I dated something as being in 2010 a few days ago- like the past two years haven't even existed! I baked a Sachertorte.

Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Sunday, July 29, 2012. Another note on Austrian pronunciation: do you know what an Ohrschluck. How about an Arschloch. In Austria, they're the same thing: an asshole. I thought. "How remarkable. I wonder what Ohrschluck. Location: Vienna, Austria. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Saturday, March 31, 2012. You Can't Handle My Apple Strudel! Recently in school, I've done a lesson - or participated in one, at least - about the family classic The Sound of Music. I know it to be true that a lot of Americans going to Austria anticipate a Sound Of Music. I would call that tragic as well - there are so many wonderful lessons in Bambi,. And the part where his mother is killed by hunters is not. But set in a more exotic location. Sorry, but ...

Wo meine Rösen blüh'n. A blog about Austria. Sunday, February 26, 2012. My fur coat on the hanger. Is is a widely know fact, among those who frequent Vienna, or live here, or have anything at all to do with the city, that every real Wienerin. Owns a fur coat. It is a rite of passage, a mark of class and sophistication. A woman goes from being a "Fräulein" (or, if age has already exacted its toll, from being a "Frau") to being a "Dame" once she owns a fur coat. At this point, many of my loyal readers (who?
