Dorktastic Oddments: April 2007
http://dorktasticoddments.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 22, 2007. The Princess and The Muffin. I have dropped off the face of the planet lately due to my increasing insomnia (and the time consumed by creating a slideshow for my father's 60th birthday party). After picking up my Vitamin B Complex pills, sedatives and sleeping pills, I got asked a very strange question. Surprisingly, I had strong opinions on the matter. In fact, she could not have picked two nicknames about which I have stronger feelings than these two. Muffin (and more commonly M...

Dorktastic Oddments: Shinny
http://dorktasticoddments.blogspot.com/2007/12/shinny.html
Sunday, December 30, 2007. This is the fourth year running that we've had a game of shinny hockey during the holidays. Each year there is progressively less of 'shinny' about it and more of organized hockey. This year we even had two goalies rather than knocked-over backwards nets. Paul and Doug go head to head. Ira decided he was going to play laying down for a while. Doug's Dad brought out the Zamboni for a photo op. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Both Dorktastic and Odd. Some People Juggle Geese.

Dorktastic Oddments: Momentum
http://dorktasticoddments.blogspot.com/2008/01/momentum.html
Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Now, poised in this moment of stillness at the beginning of a fresh new year, I’m in a different mental space. I don’t in any way feel compelled to compile a traditional ‘New Year’s Resolution’ post. Instead, I give you a list of what I do not resolve:. There will be no resolution of personal wellness as there is no point: I woke up sick this morning, having succumbed to whatever Ivy brought back from Porto Vallarta. Give me all your resolutions! No resolution of change is requi...

Dorktastic Oddments: Inspired
http://dorktasticoddments.blogspot.com/2008/01/inspired.html
Thursday, January 24, 2008. I was informed at work today that I have inspired my coworker to wear sweater-vests. I'm not really sure how to take this. It's not like I inspired her to write the great Canadian novel or to travel the world or help others. But then it's not like I inspired her to do coke or slit her wrists either. I guess inspiration just isn't my superpower. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Both Dorktastic and Odd. Some People Juggle Geese. Monkey Pants and Hippo Dignity.

Dorktastic Oddments: May 2007
http://dorktasticoddments.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 1, 2007. This truck parks down the street from our place all the time. It freaks me right out that someone not only believes these things but felt the need to post them on their vehicle for all the world to see. I am frankly terrified to see who drives this thing and hope to never meet them in a dark alley. They must be seriously unbalanced. Is that not disturbing? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Dorktastic Oddments: January 2007

Sunday, January 28, 2007. Old Man Gout and the Cast Cozy. Whenever Paul actually complains about something hurting, we end up in Emergency in the middle of the night in January (Yes, twice is more than coincidence.) It turns out that he has gout. The problem is that it's really hard to find a medication for gout that he can take because he's still on the blood thinners from the clots in his arm last January. I just don't get it. Delivered my 'Cast Cozy' just in the nick of time since the weather was real...

when you get the choice to sit it out or dance | Flaws in Progress
https://windigowinter.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/when-you-get-the-choice-to-sit-it-out-or-dance
All songs are one song, and that song is Don't Forget. When you get the choice to sit it out or dance. Bursts of sunlight through the grey of a winter that has lasted a mad long time. Today was a good day. This afternoon I went to a lecture on what to do with a BA in English. (Cue the. I took a year’s worth of Post-Colonial Literature just because he was teaching it. And I remember now why I chose an English degree. At some point, that spark dulled to an ember, and I scratched dead ashes over the memory&...

These starbursts happen precisely when I need them most… | Flaws in Progress
https://windigowinter.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/these-starbursts-happen-precisely-when-i-need-them-most
All songs are one song, and that song is Don't Forget. These starbursts happen precisely when I need them most…. There are moments, and then there are. Freezeframes. When your perspective shifts, just enough. When you stop and step back and ask yourself…. What am I doing? You can build a house on it. Drive a car on it. It’s safe — predictable. Right? That solidity is a lie. When you’re an artist —. There are things you. Do, and then there are the things you’re. By windigowinter on June 24, 2011. We stand...

Sage and smoke | Flaws in Progress
https://windigowinter.wordpress.com/2011/01/07/sage-and-smoke
All songs are one song, and that song is Don't Forget. More often than not, it’s a question of energy. Rationing it out, determining which things are deserving of it. I’ve seen it said that the 9-to-5 vampires it away, leaving us zombies. (Too many monsters in that last sentence? Maybe…) The breakthrough question is where did we spend it? Devoting ourselves to. And those worthwhile things are different for everyone. The house needs smudging… Datta. Dayadhvam. Damyata. By windigowinter on January 7, 2011.

We stand on guard for thee | Flaws in Progress
https://windigowinter.wordpress.com/2011/05/04/we-stand-on-guard-for-thee
All songs are one song, and that song is Don't Forget. We stand on guard for thee. Hello, Canada, and welcome to the second day of our Conservative majority government. What does it all mean? At this point, it’s difficult to say with any certainty. On the left, there has been speculation that the defeated Liberals may attempt a merger with the NDP, and the Globe and Mail have a great article. So what about the right? John Moore of the National Post points out that the Conservative government has yet to l...
