Not Far From the Madding Crowd: Toddler Tribulation
http://hearth-mother.blogspot.com/2015/05/toddler-tribulation.html
Not Far From the Madding Crowd. Sunday, 17 May 2015. A little snapshot of what life is like in our house if the Coco Pops run out:. It doesn't make for a great start to the day. And no, Rice Krispies with cocoa sprinkled on top does not make an effective substitute. Note to self: Keep all breakfast cereal topped up. Currently reading: Chop Chop. Not Far From the Madding Crowd: February 2015
http://hearth-mother.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Not Far From the Madding Crowd. Tuesday, 17 February 2015. When we moved in to our house nearly eight years ago, the bathroom was top of the list for things that needed to be done. It was an abomination; there was no way I was going to be able to live with it; and how many years ago was peach 'in' as a bathroom colour anyway? This is my current bathroom:. Which is quite far removed from the bathroom of my dreams (but, sadly, not my finances) that looks a little bit like this:. And, it is half term. B...

Livvy's Life: June 2011
http://livvylife.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
It is important, when death finds you, that it finds you alive' Anon. Saturday, June 18, 2011. A creaking tree never falls down. My mother-in-law, who is justabout still my mother-in-law, said this to me last night. We had a conversation on the telephone, her in Ireland, me here. After years of minor struggle, we have reached a place of mutual respect and understanding, and one of the things that we understand is that both of us have lost her son. A creaking tree never falls down,. Of the decade's ten ye...

Dear 14-year-old daughter… | Not waving but ironing
https://notwavingbutironing.wordpress.com/2010/11/10/dear-14-year-old-daughter
Not waving but ironing. Place your Christmas orders for my novelty aprons! SAME OLD CRAP, SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FONT →. November 10, 2010 · 8:38 pm. Dear 14-year-old daughter…. Our teenage agony aunt solves your style dilemmas. With brutal honesty. I’m going to a family wedding in the new year and I’d like to find something special to wear. Ideally I’d like a Bianca Jagger-style white trouser suit. Do you know of any shops that might stock one in a size 12/14? Do you go out of your way to embarrass me?

Ozark Oddments: The benefits of careful pruning
http://leiweedit.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-benefits-of-careful-pruning.html
Saturday, July 11, 2015. The benefits of careful pruning. The tulip poplar we donated in our son’s memory was planted in the park in March 2012. It was less than 3 feet tall and was basically a bare stick. Within a week, another tulip poplar was planted next to our tree. It was the same size and also a bare stick. Both trees soon begin to put out leaves. Our tree had a small setback when the tip got broken shortly after it was planted, but it recovered nicely. Don’t worry,. I said, the tree will be fine.

Ozark Oddments: March 2015

Monday, March 30, 2015. Some Odds-and-Ends on an Orangish Afternoon. What would otherwise be a bright blue sky on a beautiful Spring day has instead turned to a rather peculiar orange-colored sky because the smoke from a 100-plus acre controlled burn started by the Conservation Department southwest of town is billowing into the air and is obscuring the sun, which is headed in that direction. Over the weekend I just about finished Friday. More than I can count. Does one have a tendency to become a hyp...

Livvy's Life: Surprise
http://livvylife.blogspot.com/2011/11/i-was-tired.html
It is important, when death finds you, that it finds you alive' Anon. Friday, November 25, 2011. I was tired. I dragged myself there. My friend the Poet was one of the artists exhibiting; Anna-mouse was happily ensconced with her favourite playdate playmate, and the Bim was all lined up to pick her up, so I had no excuse not. I sighed and gave myself a team-talk as I neared the place: Come on, Liv, you can do it. Arriving at social events alone is never the nicest. What can I tell you? How shall I put it?

Livvy's Life: Reviewing the Surprise
http://livvylife.blogspot.com/2011/11/reviewing-surprise.html
It is important, when death finds you, that it finds you alive' Anon. Saturday, November 26, 2011. Quiet Contemplative. Retreating back into my single space for one and a small, golden-haired half. The happy, glowing bubble in which we stood to hold our conversation seems barely credible today. Did it happen like that, I want to ask? But it was important. It was momentous! The lovely youngish man I met yesterday re-introduced me to possibility: to connection: to love. Loving another person is such a brav...
