Diary of a Costumer. Aug 11th, 2015. I dont think I posted what all of my sewing plans are, now that CoCo drove a bunch of ideas into my head. So Im going to put them here, because I swear I keep forgetting some of them! 1890s Plaid Walking Ensemble. Organdy and horsehair are on their way to me to help with sleeves; blouse fabric still to be purchased. Skirt done, bodice started. Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. I think I have Rapunzel fabrics. I should probably check. Navy blue swiss dot Regency. Commission-wi...

I'm already sewing! - Diary of a Costumer

Diary of a Costumer. Aug 9th, 2015 at 1:13 AM. I finished the chemisette on the bus home on Friday, like I thought I would. Heres a pic:. I also started work on my 1890s skirt on Friday night, by cutting out the pattern pieces and the actual skirt pieces, using the Butterick walking skirt pattern on the plaid heavy cotton I found at the Bargain Basement. Today, I finished up the skirt completely, including the hem. 5 comments Leave a comment. Aug 9th, 2015 02:32 pm (UTC). Aug 9th, 2015 04:47 pm (UTC).

Diary of a Costumer. CoCo Recap #2: Sunday/Monday. Aug 17th, 2016 at 12:29 AM. I slept through my alarm Sun morning, and my roommate woke me up at 7:10. My goal had been to get to the Bargain Basement line by 7:30 - aaahh! Anyway, I dumped my stuff in my room, grabbed a muffin from the Concierge lounge, and scurried off to Lucas 19th C Silhouette class. I now plan to make all my stuff with padding (after I make the proper corset, of course! That was it for CoCo classes. I did spend some of my other t...

Diary of a Costumer. CoCo Recap #2: Saturday. Aug 14th, 2016 at 1:04 AM. I had my limited class with Luca first thing on Saturday, The Boned Seams of Bodices. Such an informative class! I wish we had had more time, to fully finish our samples, but I think I got enough to be able to implement it all on my own. And I cant wait to order German plastic boning and actually start boning my bodices. I almost never do! I hated my hair, though - Im honestly not sure what happened there. There was a great group of...

1890s sleeve supports? - Diary of a Costumer
http://theladyrebecca.livejournal.com/147897.html
Diary of a Costumer. Aug 11th, 2015 at 12:37 PM. I cut out all my bodice pieces for the 1890s bodice last night. I had enough fabric that I was actually able to pay attention to the plaid, so hopefully everything will match up when I go to actually sew them together! I started the flatlining on a few pieces, but then I had to go to bed. My goal is to finish flatlining and sew them together tonight. And then maybe tomorrow Ill take it with me to Joanns and figure out the sleeve fabric. On March, 1st, 1896...

Diary of a Costumer. Aug 10th, 2016 at 11:33 PM. Im Posty McPostalot today! But I realized I had never done a post on this dress, and I knew I needed to remedy that, since it really deserves its own finished post. I think this is one of my favorite things Ive ever made. Which is good, since its definitely the most labor-intensive by far. Certainly, it was tons of fun to wear! Oh, and I didnt wind up using the huge hairbow, but I did wear both of the smaller ones and both ribbon-style bows. And my ted...

At Costume College I wore my finished robe à l’Anglaise retroussée, previously debuted in an unfinished form at the Pirate Festival. I don’t have all my formal portraits yet, but Andrew Schmidt, the official CoCo photographer, put up this picture as one of the preview shots. Photo by Andrew Schmidt. The dress is made from one king-sized Ikea duvet cover! Unlike the previous ti...
