On expectations | A little Laura in your life

https://laurainyourlife.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/on-expectations

A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. April 9, 2013. I wrote this post a while ago, but just got around to posting it. Thanks for reading yo. I have been in Jordan for over three months now and I have visited the essential tourist places:. I’ve stood in front of the treasury of Petra. I rode a camel in Wadi Rum. I saw the Golan Heights from Umm Qais and the Roman ruins of Jerash. I swam in the Dead Sea and held babies in Aqaba (but seriously). The follow-up, is it safe?

The Dead Sea and other adventures | A little Laura in your life

A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. The Dead Sea and other adventures. January 28, 2013. January 29, 2013. Today was my first day of classes at the University of Jordan! It’s incredibly weird getting used to a new campus, especially because it seems particularly enormous. Yet, there is nothing quite like learning new words in Arabic class and then actually being able to use them in real context. Piece of cake of the day, I fell into a deep food coma. The day was over...

My life in Jordan: an eternally awkward moment | A little Laura in your life

https://laurainyourlife.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/my-life-in-jordan-an-eternally-awkward-moment

A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. My life in Jordan: an eternally awkward moment. February 18, 2013. February 18, 2013. Upon rereading my last post, I actually hate it and considered deleting it. I was really trying not to be that stereotypical this is me eating a falafel sandwich [or insert other international food of choice] or this is me on top of this random ancient building blog where I just tell you what. Post was comforting in knowing that I wasn’t alone.

A new religion | A little Laura in your life

https://laurainyourlife.wordpress.com/2014/03/11/a-new-religion

A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. March 11, 2014. March 11, 2014. I dug into the next stride, finally feeling the relief from having escaped the confines of a metal treadmill. I felt the freedom of a pair of running shorts. I was finally outside, and there was no one staring at me. As bad as it felt, it also felt beautiful. This was glorious and painful, a confusing combination made irrelevant with a simple forward motion. I’m here. →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Shrimp on the Barbie | Adventures in Oceania

https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/2013/03/03/shrimp-on-the-barbie

A little about myself. The Middle of Nowhere. Riptides and Whatnot →. Shrimp on the Barbie. March 3, 2013. You say this, and all of the chill Aussies that you just shared a cheers with will become slightly annoyed that you brought up this raw subject. A lecture then ensues. Good shrimp is too small to be grilled for that long. If anything, it’s prawns on the barbieand we don’t even say barbie. Duly noted. Lovely weather we have here. Love to all from Australia! 2 thoughts on “ Shrimp on the Barbie. I met...

I’ll Be On the Next Flight | Adventures in Oceania

https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/2014/02/16/ill-be-on-the-next-flight

A little about myself. Savo(u)r the World →. I’ll Be On the Next Flight. February 16, 2014. If I remember right, the humid cold in Minnesota was at a solid -20 degrees, and I was so ready to get away from it. Still, my haphazardly packed suitcases exemplified my procrastination to pack for a five-month excursion. I got my shit together in time to meet the plane on February 13. To land in Oz on the 15. Happily deeming Valentine’s Day 2013 as nonexistent (good riddance). But actually, I’ve managed to take ...

A little about myself. An Ode to Study Abroad, And My Poor Dogs. New Zealand in a Nutshell →. Ocean Views and Running Shoes (and too many other things to fit into this title). May 10, 2013. Oh the joys of compromising with myself. It’s a peaceful and surreal setting of vast ocean views, where the coast hooks around the eastern most point of Australia. Our first encounter with notable wildlife (besides the GBR) happened here when a rock wallaby leapt past us as we gazed out this lookout point:. We then en...

A little about myself. We’ve Reached Paradise. Ocean Views and Running Shoes (and too many other things to fit into this title) →. An Ode to Study Abroad, And My Poor Dogs. April 15, 2013. As I talked to my oldest sister, Nellie, before leaving, I remember her saying to me: “It’s OK to cry when you say good-bye to the parents, I know I did when I left! 8221; (She studied in Ireland). https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/riptides-and-whatnot

A little about myself. Shrimp on the Barbie. We’ve Reached Paradise →. March 26, 2013. Americans don’t mind being mistaken for being Canadian, but if you mistake a Canadian for an American, all hell breaks loose, said about three people in the last week. Apparently those who visit from Canada need to make it clear that they are indeed. So far, my experience has involved a lot of on campus festivities, more specifically themed parties put on by the tavern that is in the center of campus. Many trips to...

A little about myself. Ocean Views and Running Shoes (and too many other things to fit into this title). Sing Me Some Opera →. New Zealand in a Nutshell. June 5, 2013. Autumn leaves. One-dollar sushi. Many pictures of fountains and obscure trees with Courtney’s professional camera, all on two hours of sleep that were very brokenly spent on the plane ride crossing the Tasman Sea. Welcome to Middle Earth. A Hostel of Sorts. We came by this quaint little hostel in a town called Rotorua. By far the best ...

A little about myself | Adventures in Oceania

https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/about

A little about myself. A little about myself. My name is Lizzy and I am a distance runner from the Twin Cities studying dietetics at Montana State University in Bozeman. I’m leaving that all behind for five gorgeous months and traveling to Brisbane, Australia to surf, eat, study, catch some pet kangaroo, and generally just have the best time ever. Thanks for letting me humbly enlighten you on what I am up to while I am down under. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Sing Me Some Opera.

Elizabeth Avery | Adventures in Oceania

https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/author/elizabethnarigon

A little about myself. Author Archives: Elizabeth Avery. July 23, 2015. 8220;This is the time to travel, when you’re young,” said the guy on the chairlift at Coronet Peak. And Jackie, my host mom at the chestnut farm. And the creepy hipster man who owned the hostel in Sydney. If I had a plane ticket for every time someone said this to me in the past few months, I would’ve probably continued to travel the globe beyond last Thursday. Is that even a question? My short and sweet journey. February 16, 2014.

Sing Me Some Opera | Adventures in Oceania

https://elizabethnarigon.wordpress.com/2013/06/30/sing-me-some-opera

A little about myself. New Zealand in a Nutshell. Until Next Time →. Sing Me Some Opera. June 30, 2013. This next step was a stressful and exhausting endeavor as both Ryan and Honor helped me try to piece together the puzzle of Sydney public transport to the race location. Little did I know that it was located way out in the boondocks of New South Wales, so not really near Sydney at all? I walked up to the registration table to collect my racing bib forty-five minutes late. I was in a mood similar to...

Now put your chairs in a semi-circle

Now put your chairs in a semi-circle. Thursday, June 12, 2008. If anyone is still reading this, I'm home! We went to visit Cinque Terre and this is the only picture I took. And you can't even really tell what it is. If anyone is interested in what it looks like you should definitely talk to people who are good with a camera. This is how my grandmother felt about Italy. She means business, especially when sporting those jeans. OK, maybe they didn't. It was a beautiful night. These are my favorites! Team V...

Not all who wander are lost...

Not all who wander are lost. I have now finished up most of my work in Dahra :) I still need to show up to a ceremony and hand out some certificates and show my replacement around, but other than that, I am done! These past two years have been an amazing experience, and I am truly glad that I have had this opportunity. Granted, there have been times so frustrating with work projects or culture that I just wanted to quit and return home; however, I am glad that I stuck it out. Well, I think that's about i...

Laura In Wonderland | Travelling, Cycling, Happiness

Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Travelling, Cycling, Happiness. This is the end. March 12, 2015. In the beginning of the year I was writing about big blog make-overs, about reinventing myself and my space on the internet. Believe it or not, this is exactly what I’ve been doing. It just didn’t turn out as expected. While going through ideas of what I want this blog to be, I realised that I don’t really want this blog to be anything anymore. It’s time to let go. This is not the end of m...

A little Laura in your life. 8230;because maybe you're missing something. 3adi, Normal, عادي. October 9, 2014. October 9, 2014. This weekend I spent a lot of time thinking about my idea of normal. Of course, my normal comes from its own base of customs, language, religion, beliefs, values and understandings. It isn’t correct or right, but it exists. It’s that voice in my head that rings when something is outside of my comfort zone, beyond my ordinary. Raaaaas, she giggled, emphasizing the. I did, yes&#46...

Mijn avontuur in Zweden - Gävle

Mijn avontuur in Zweden - Gävle. Donderdag 18 april 2013. Afscheid nemen bestaat niet. Afscheid nemen; waarom zouden we? Dinsdag komt...
