Death Note | Grim's Comic Reviews
https://leahpertot.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/death-note
Grim's Comic Reviews. Leah Pertot's reading response blog. December 2, 2013. I enjoy morbid stories, so for this week, I decided to read Death Note. By Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. I find the premise of this story very funny. The Death God, Ryuk, becomes bored, and as a result, decides to mess with some humans, accidentally dropping his death note into the human world, where it is found by Light Yagami, doomed to go mad with power. The most interesting aspect of Death Note. One example of a creative e...

Tim Burton films, and of course, Jhonen Vasquez’s show, Invader Zim,. As well as his other comics. Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Johnny, or Nny as he is often called, is a hilarious character! Grim's Comic Reviews. Leah Pertot's reading response blog. A Closer Look at Persepolis. December 2, 2013. By Marjane Satrapi, as I have mentioned in a previous post, is an autobiography about a young woman growing up in a Revolutionary Iran, and her travels in Europe to escape danger. I am impressed by the clarity of Ms. Satrapi’s storytelling. She breaks down the beginnings of the revolution in terms we can understand, and her narration is communicated with a clear attitude. While the chapter was about ...

Grim's Comic Reviews. Leah Pertot's reading response blog. Umbrella Academy and Hellboy. December 4, 2013. Through my favorite band, My Chemical Romance, I heard about Umbrella Academy. Written by Gerard Way, and Illustrated by Gabriel Ba, and I absolutely love it! The dialogue is believable, the characters are interesting, and the art is very exciting! With its unique cast of characters, Umbrella Academy. Deals with the extreme individualism and difficulty in teamwork that comes with being a superhero.

Grim's Comic Reviews. Leah Pertot's reading response blog. December 4, 2013. By the Hernandez brothers, Jaime and Gilbert, are highly commendable for realistic characters. Today, I will be focusing on a plot carried out by Jaime, Locas vs Locos. I’ll start out by saying that they have an excellent feel for the Punk Rock scene, and it is refreshing to see characters with such interesting character designs, my favorite aspects being the unique haircuts and band t-shirts! Umbrella Academy and Hellboy →.

Literature of Comics and the Graphic Narrative. Course blog for LMST340. Week Five: Body Talk: Eisner and Thompson. Self Portrait by Will Eisner. We can see the same devotion to clarity, although the narrative itself is often soaked in ambiguity- ambiguities about time, memory, belief. For me there is a striking similarity in the narrative approach of these two creators. A Contract With God. Also read Craig Thompson's.
