Water From Rocks: December 2010
http://waterfromrocks.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 17, 2010. It's Friday, I'm in Love. Blond, 5'8", blue eyes, leggy? Not ringing a bell? Proud as a Peacock. Big Miss finished finals with flying colors and we are very proud of her. It almost makes the sympathy stress we felt on her behalf worth it. Well, almost. I stress eat (see Grazing Gorilla above). Anyway, Merry Christmas. That can't really be said enough. Keep smiling and remember to be happy. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. El Paso, TX September 2009. Linda S...

Oops...Wrong Cookie: December 2012
http://oopswrongcookie.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Where several Texas librarians write about books and stuff. Monday, December 31, 2012. End of the Year Reading. Goodness, it's already the new year! Make that 28 days until the Youth Media Awards. While I am looking forward to the new year of reading (ahem Sarah Dessen and Melina Marchetta) I still have a small mountain of reading to finish for 2012. Here's a terribly thrifty review list of what I managed to read recently. Happy New Year, Oops. One Year in Coal Harbor. Polly Horvath novel this year!

The One and Only Ivan. AKA 2013 Newbery Award Winner. And I officially read all the Newbery award books! I'm rather amazed that this was the only one I had not read before the announcement. Where several Texas librarians write about books and stuff. Monday, January 28, 2013. Patti and Joanna Discuss the Youth Media Awards 2013. Welcome to our 2013 ALA YMA Annual Chat! If you are not entirely familiar with the YMAs, you’ll probably find this conversation odd at best. Patti and I were watching a live webcast of the awards which were held in Seattle at 8 am PST. That was 10 and 11 am for us. As usual, there were Yays! Which apparently only the committee has copies. Here’s to next year! LOVED W...

Oops...Wrong Cookie: Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta
http://oopswrongcookie.blogspot.com/2013/03/quintana-of-charyn-by-melina-marchetta.html
Where several Texas librarians write about books and stuff. Monday, March 4, 2013. Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta. Finnikin of the Rock. Froi of the Exiles. Let's start with the cover. I love the cover art. I love how fierce Quintana looks, love the dagger, love how it matches up to the previous books in the series. Love, love, love. They did a great job of providing a cover that is interesting and will draw people in to the series. Seriously, 'cause they go through a lot. And the greatest thing?

The Library is Not a Fruit: A Whole New Ball Game
http://mizzmurphy.blogspot.com/2011/10/whole-new-ball-game.html
The Library is Not a Fruit. One all-girls independent high school li-berry, so much to say. Thursday, October 6, 2011. A Whole New Ball Game. In order to get a handle on this school, this library, and these girls, I put together a survey and asked 340 students to provide answers to questions about their reading habits, library habits, research habits, etc. The results were very enlightening. Stunning, really. Shocking, in fact. This is what I found:. 34% spend ZERO time each week reading for pleasure.
